Quick and Easy Lemon Cake This is the lemon cake that my Nana usually always makes for me when I go home to California. We both forgot about it during my last visit and I didn’t realize until I got back to Sicily that I hadn’t had my Lemon Jello Cake fix. Luckily, I have the recipe! And lucky for you, I’m going to share it! This is one of the easiest cakes you can make and I will argue that it’s one of the best-tasting cakes you will ever eat. What makes this cake so great is the glaze.

Caramel Apple Pie Cupcakes « The Craving Chronicles It seems like once the weather cools down everyone wants to jump right into pumpkin season. Don’t get me wrong, I love pumpkin as much as anyone else, but to me September is apple season. I was thinking about how often apples get overshadowed by pumpkin a few weeks ago when my husband asked me if I wanted to attend a dinner party with some of his coworkers. How to Make Peanut Butter S'Mores Turnovers Peanut Butter- S’Mores Turnovers I’m not much of a camper. My husband often takes my son on camping trips, and I happily stay behind and thank the gods for our bug-free house, cozy bed and well-stocked kitchen. I always send them off in comfort… marinate a little meat for them to throw on the grill, pack up some convenience foods and bake a few goodies too. When they return from their camping weekends, I hear mostly about the evenings sitting around the campfire. Story telling, snuggling in blankets, singing songs and roasting marshmallows for S’Mores seem to be recurring favorites.

to make: cobbler baked in jars I made these for the Seattle Bake Sale for Share Our Strength organized by Frantic Foodie (thanks Keren!). I had so much fun making pies in jars that I figured this was the perfect opportunity to bake something else in jars. This time I used half-pint wide mouth jars, a nice size for a bake sale.

Meat, veggies, chocolate, fruit… there’s not much you couldn’t throw in with melted cheese between two pan-fried slices of bread. Many of us associate the grilled cheese with childhood lunches and tomato soup, but there’s an army of creative chefs out there keeping the American staple alive and relevant for grown-ups. Oreo Cookies Made From Scratch - Just Like the Ones From the Box, Only Better Oreo cookies seem to be pervasive in this country. Oreo cookies showed up at every party while I was growing up, and they are still used in countless desserts. My personal favorite is Oreo cheesecake (not to slight my Oreo cupcakes). Oreo cheesecake was in the dessert cycle in our cafeteria on Semester at Sea and I just couldn’t resist it! I’ve always liked the Oreo, but since I could read and understand product labels, I’ve never been a fan of their ingredients.

Homemade Cereal Bars Recipe Homemade cereal grain bars are even tastier than the boxed version, but so much healthier. These are made with oats, flaxseed meal, and honey, and easily made vegan or gluten-free. My kids love nutrigrain and other fruit cereal bars. At first glance, they look like a healthy easy lunchbox option. Many are even organic. But after looking at the ingredients on the back of the box I decided I could not continue to buy these very often. Strawberry Champagne Ruffle Cake for a Virtual Baby Shower – Cook Like a Champion Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding things about food blogging is all the amazing friends I’ve made along the way. Even though we’ve never met in person, I am so thankful to have made such wonderful friends, and I hope we’ll all have the chance to meet someday. I hate that we’re spread all over the country because I know we would all have a fabulous time together. There are some things that simply have to be celebrated with friends, no matter the distance between them. That’s why I decided to host a virtual baby shower for Annie . I am so grateful to have a friend like her, and I just couldn’t let her pregnancy go by without celebrating it in a special way.

Green Tea Donut Have you seen or tasted Green Tea Donuts before? They are actually quite pretty popular in Japan. The Japanese like to make sweets and desserts with matcha (green tea powder, 抹茶) from green tea latte, green tea tiramisu, to green tea KitKat and Pocky! Well, I’m definitely not an exception; I made cookies, ice cream, Crème Brûlée and steamed cake with matcha on Just One Cookbook so far.
