Do you need a perfect snack for the big game? These Pretzel bites will hit the spot for sure. You can make a combination of Parmesan bites with a Cheese dip or Cinnamon and Sugar bites with a Vanilla glaze for dipping. I've finally used up my supply of Rhodes Roll dough . . . until I buy more. It's quite nice to have on hand when you need it. If you have some hanging around your freezer, you can whip these up in a jiffy. Simple . . . CINNAMON and SUGAR PRETZEL BITES Take a Texas size Rhodes roll that has been thawed. Roll it out in a four inch rope. Cut in four sections. I got tired of this method. so I simplified even more. Take your roll, and cut horizontally and vertically. You have four pieces. You will need: as well as: Once your bites are all cut, place on a large greased baking sheet. Let rise until double in size. Like this . . . Bring some water to boil in a large pot. Brushetta A beautiful summer night (11 p.m. to be exact) in Drogheda. Remember when I first arrived, and I wrote a post about the “Irish diet?” Basically I was amazed that even though I was eating more starch, fat and sugar than ever before, I wasn’t gaining weight. I think at the time (it was still wintery in early March), I chalked it up to the fact that my body – used to the balmy climate of Los Angeles – was working overtime to keep warm in freezing-cold Ireland. Well, it’s not so cold here anymore. Cheer: Our Holiday Wishlist No matter how hard you try to opt out of the conspicuous consumption of the holiday season, your relatives, friends, and Secret Santas are unlikely to stop showering you with generous gifts destined for the landfill. So this year, we’re evading the awkwardness of unwrapping another ill-fitting sweater or ill-considered trinket by straight-up asking for stuff we really, really want. Presenting our own holiday wishlist for GOOD revelers who care where their presents came from. These are GOOD gifts tailored to the sometimes-scrappy sustainable life—our curated items are eco, innovative, charity-minded, or just plain charming. This year, we want to lock up our snacking game with a portable bento box, then snap up a cookbook that helps us bail out indie bookstores. We want to invest in some handsome book darts that help us remember the good parts, then write our own story with a five-year diary that charts our life’s progress into 2017.

Fried Dough Mozzarella Bites These weren't as crazy amazing(cramazing?) as they look and sound, but they were still very good. They definitely need a few tweaks though to become a perfect recipe. The main issue which I knew might be a problem from the start is that the cheese explodes out of the dough well before the dough is finished cooking. King Arthur Flour – Baking Banter - StumbleUpon Love brownies. Love their shiny, flaky top that shatters into micro-thin shards that shower onto your fingers as you eat. Love their dark, gooey center. Their “chocolate nirvana” flavor. Sometimes can’t deal with the bake, wait to cool, cutting into squares messiness and fuss of brownies. Want something I can enjoy within 5 minutes of its exit from the oven.

HOT BUTTERY SCONES and MY FAVORITE WHITE BREAD My daughter Danielle asked me to post a scone recipe, and so I figured I might as well make them the today! As I was trying to decide which scone recipe to make, I decided to do as I usually do and make my Favorite White Bread, as well as scones….. with the same recipe. This recipe has yeast for a rising agent, and my other scone recipe, that I only use for scones, uses Baking Powder. Both recipes are delicious, but with this recipe you can have hot buttery scones as well as melt in your mouth perfect Bread from the oven. I halved the original recipe today, and made 2 large loaves of bread and still have enough dough for probably 20 good size scones.

Whole Grain Master Recipe from “Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day” using Vital Wheat Gluten! (The picture above is another Mark Luinenburg gem; Mark’s done the photography on our new book). Speaking of our new book… … this has been a long and wonderful road; tomorrow (Tuesday October 27) is the publication date for: Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day: 100 New Recipes Featuring Whole Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, and Gluten-Free Ingredients We are thrilled with the early reviews, and already have already been on TV to talk about the book. On Amazon, the order window has changed from “Pre-Order” to “Order on Amazon”, and bookstores should have it (if they don’t please ask them to order it).

DIY: Paint Stick Sunburst Mirror My friends, if there ever was a bandwagon, this carefree DIYer is jumping right on it. For months, I’ve seen fabulous versions of the sunburst mirror pop up all over the blogosphere. And for weeks now, with every stop in the paint department, I couldn’t help but notice how those paint stir sticks might just make a very cool version of this decorative favorite. I couldn’t figure out how to stack them nicely enough around the center to make it worth my effort, but that little road bump didn’t stop me from snagging more than my fair share of free stir sticks at a time, like 8 or 10, over the course of a month. When I read how Danielle used an embroidery hoop, that convinced me to make my own version too!

Pull Apart Cheesy Herb Bread The weather was getting cold this week and I just really wanted some bread in the oven. It was as simple as that. I had several recipes on deck but this one cut in line simply for having yeast in it. Family Kitchen - StumbleUpon I’ve always had a penchant for sunshine in a jar. Doesn’t the very phrase itself, “sunshine in a jar,” roll off your tongue and fill your mouth with magic? While I’ve never yet found myself a sunshine in a jar, I think we may have just concocted it in our kitchen tonight. French Bread Update 2/2013: This recipe has been on my blog, well, for as long as I’ve been blogging and that’s over five years! It is no exaggeration that this bread is made at least twice a month in my kitchen. It’s perfect to eat just by itself (warm out of the oven? seriously, divine) or to use as garlic bread, french bread pizzas, dipping for fondue.

Apple Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal Vacation is finally over and I am a little sad to see it go. Josh and I had an entire week off and we did absolutely nothing. Well, we watched an obscene amount of movies and did our fair share of cooking, baking, and eating, but nothing too strenuous.

A Few Features… Hey Guys!! Thanks to all of you who joined our last I Made it Without My Hubby! We loved the new setup with the picture links. It made it a bit more fun don’t you think??
