Get Schooled Since our founding as a stand-alone non-profit in 2010, we have aimed to use the media and messengers of popular culture to inspire and engage students in an effort to improve high school graduation rates and empower more students to go to and succeed in college. Get Schooled is a national non-profit founded on the belief that students themselves have the power to improve their future if given the right information and motivation. We leverage the key influences in teens’ lives to directly engage them on their path through high school and into college. To do this, Get Schooled uses the messengers (celebrities, powerful peers, pop culture events) and the means (mobile/SMS, social, web) that youth turn to; and we meet the students where they are (online, curious, etc) to deliver the information they need to be successful in their educational pursuits. We call it ‘sizzle and substance’ – and the end result is more youth exploring and being successful on their educational path.
