La crise écologique planétaire, et l’incapacité du système international des États à y répondre, démontrent que « la condition humaine » est aujourd’hui universelle ; plus qu’elle ne l’a jamais été auparavant. Elle pousse l’Humanité à se penser aujourd’hui en « communauté-monde », à se constituer en « société-monde » et, à la manière d’une « nation-monde », à défendre collectivement sa survie et son avenir. L’Humanité peine déjà à se percevoir en communauté-monde, la conscience de partager un destin commun à l’échelle de la planète n’est encore pas assez largement partagée.
