Many members of these communities are marginalised and socially isolated, on one hand as a result of living in rural isolated areas and on the other as a result of their inability to access services. This centre represents an opportunity to empower the marginalised and the vulnerable of the community. Law Centre NI. Immigration Casework. We may advise and assist with complex applications to UKBA, namely those involving asylum, the application of discretion, cases involving human rights, European law and international law.

Immigration Casework

We do not advise and assist on cases that directly relate to business applications under the points based system and nationality legislation. A condition of the funding received by the Law Centre from the Legal Services Commission, in relation to immigration, is that the work must be carried out for individuals entitled to Legal Aid.

Individuals not eligible for Legal Aid may be referred to a solicitor. We may decide to take on such cases, however, where the legal issue is of particular strategic importance or because there is another compelling reason.
