Newspaper is often used with this method. - The pulp method is where a moldable mix is made from paper pulp and glue, and this clay material is built up over the surface you are covering. 3D details and shapes can be made with the pulp/clay - it doesn't have to be added in an even layer like the paper in the strip method does. Things like sawdust and sand can be added to the clay to create an interesting surface effect. Often, the strip method is used first to make a smooth layer, then the pulp method is used to add the details and texture over the top. Dollmakersdream.com / Pinterest. Past Shows. Roses Are Red…

I believe that one of the main reasons I enjoy the paper craft, is due to my love of the material: paper.

Yulia Brodskaya : Art

Although I've always had a special fascination for paper, it has taken me a while to find my own way of working with it; and then it took a little longer to find out that the technique I have been using so intensively is called quilling - it involves the use of strips of paper that can be rolled, shaped, and glued to the background. Several years ago I developed a new recipe for a sculptural material I call “paper mache clay.”

Paper Mache Clay

This material is so easy to use and so easy to make that I now use it exclusively for all my paper mache sculptures. The recipe has now gone “viral” and is being used by artists all over the world. The first video below shows how to make the paper mache clay, and the second video answers some common questions that I’ve received from readers since I first developed this recipe.
