My mouth babbled madness and mumbled soft pleas. // I stared down the ravenous, gnashing dark maw of a cute cuddly kitten with yarn in its paw. Sculpture et Pièces De Voiture. Russian Artist Creates Steampunk Animals From Old Car Parts, Watches And Electronics. When working with metal, it takes a true master to breathe life into their artwork.
Russian artist Igor Verniy does just that with his beautiful and elegant articulated steampunk animal sculptures. Their moving parts and Verniy’s attention to detail makes them come alive. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes before Verniy creates his artwork. He observes his creations’ living counterparts to ensure that he captures their movements just right. Then, he assembles them from various pieces of scrap metal – old car parts, bike parts, clock movements, tableware, and anything else that fits. Bored Panda reached out to Igor to talk about his work, so check out his responses below! November 12th, 2014 viktor More than two years ago we published an article about the the steampunk sculptures by Andrew Chase, who’s also a talented photographer.
Now the time has come to introduce you to his latest pieces of art, which might even surpass all that he has done until this moment. Once again the topic is the animal kingdom. Andrew spends his childhood and some of his teenage years on the coasts of Massachusetts in a religious cult sect. The pseudo-19th-century-industrial style gives a terrifying and yet somewhat realistic appearance of the animals that the American artist has been depicting.

He is the creator of arthrobos. What are arthrobots? They are steampunk insect sculptures (a combination of robots and antrhopods). He uses regular, household materials such as brass and bullets to create lifelike sculptures of scorpions, butterflies, grasshoppers and wasps. Each Anthropod starts off its beautiful life as a series of rough sketches and afterwards it’s painstakingly crafted with beads and bits and pieces of metal into the beautiful artwork you can see below. After they are finished, they are named according to their natural counterparts; reminiscing of your biology class, anyone? No matter the purpose of these finely crafted sculptures, be it study or a simple gift for business partners, each and every one of them truly is a great work of art, lovingly crafted into existence by Tom Hardwidge.
