Arcam provides a unique Additive Manufacturing technology for production of fully dense metal parts, Electron Beam Melting (EBM ® ). The EBM ® technology builds parts layer-by-layer from metal powder using a powerful electron beam. The EBM ® process is carried out in vacuum at an elevated temperature allowing for first-class material properties, mechanically and chemically. Arcam was founded in 1997 and is listed on the Nordic Growth Market in Stockholm, Sweden. Since the birth of Arcam, our vision has remained the same: to revolutionize the art of manufacturing complex parts. Our technology is the result of intensive research and development and has a wide array of applications within the Medical Implant industry and the Aerospace & Defense industry.

Additive manufacturing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Additive manufacturing ( AM ) is defined by ASTM as the "process of joining materials to make objects from 3D model data , usually layer upon layer, as opposed to subtractive manufacturing methodologies, such as traditional machining . Synonyms: additive fabrication, additive processes, additive techniques, additive layer manufacturing, layer manufacturing and freeform fabrication". [ 1 ] The term additive manufacturing describes technologies which can be used anywhere throughout the product life cycle from pre-production (i.e. rapid prototyping ) to full scale production (also known as rapid manufacturing ) and even for tooling applications or post production customisation. Examples of AM are fused deposition modeling and laser sintering.Timelapse video of a hyperboloid object print (made of PLA ) using a RepRap “Prusa Mendel” 3D printer for molten polymer deposition. 3D printing or additive manufacturing [ 1 ] is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. 3D printing is achieved using additive processes , where an object is created by laying down successive layers of material. [ 2 ] 3D printing is considered distinct from traditional machining techniques ( subtractive processes ) which mostly rely on the removal of material by drilling, cutting etc. 3D printing is usually performed using a materials printer, and since 2003 there has been large growth in the sales of these machines.

3D printing cuneiform tablets | A Blog About History - History News
Researchers have come up with a cool use for 3D printing technology – making duplicates of ancient cuneiform tablets. Tablets can be copied using latex molds, but this runs the risk of damaging the original, Owen said. The most important recent technological development in the field was digital photography ; this allowed millions of ancient artifacts to become instantly available to scholars everywhere. But it is nothing like the real thing.Interactive Fabrication » Fabricate Yourself
Fabricate Yourself is a project that documented the Tangible, Embedded and Embodied Interaction Conference . Usually we think of documentation in terms of text, photography and video, but given the tangible theme of the conference we decided to engage the community by capturing and fabricating small 3D models of attendees. This enabled us to build a tangible model of the event and fabricate it piece by piece during the conference. Attendees firstly capture their favorite pose using a Microsoft Kinect. The depth image from the Kinect is processed into a mesh and displayed onscreen in real-time. At any time they can capture the mesh and save it as an STL file.Dimension 3D Printers have been the number one selling 3D printer family for more than ten years. Engineers trust Dimension 3D Printers because they know the 3D models they produce will not only represent their ideas exactly — but allow them to test their feasibility too. Take your design from CAD to 3D model in hours, not days or weeks. Details: Outsourcing or hand-building a prototype in-house takes days or weeks.

When we bought the Solidscape machine, we encountered post layer failures one day & just out of curiosity we wrote to Solidscape. Further, Mr. Vikrant Rawa called & directed to make some temperature changes. We did it & since then, the machine has run perfectly.

Laser-sintering system for the production of tooling inserts, prototype parts and end products directly in metal. The EOSINT M 280 is the updated and further improved version of the EOSINT M 270, the leading system on the market for the additive layer manufacturing of metal components. It directly produces top-quality metal parts on the basis of three-dimensional CAD data – fully automatically, in only a few hours, and with no need for tools. The system is optionally equipped with a solid state laser of either 200 or 400 watt.

This is the page where I record stuff that's been added each week to the 3dprinting Pearltree. This stuff may be new to the internet, or it may be new to me, or it may be old to me but I'm just getting around to adding it to the Pearltree. The aim is to help people see what's coming in, if that's of interest to anyone. I'm using Google Sites for this purpose because Pearltrees is limited in its tools for chronology, comments, and showing stuff. By linking off this page rather than in a new Pearltree, new links aren't buried another layer down.

Well, we all have to make choices. I have put this PT together to track my work with 3d printing. I'm in it to find useful stuff that helps me see where things are headed, and who is doing the heading. I'm less interested in trying to bring pretty order to something that is clearly in flux, and more interested in finding folks who surface helpful stuff. Best on your organizing, e. by gerald.barnett Nov 23
Actually, now that I think about it, this subject is quite important... I take that stuff back. I will not team up with you, instead I will do the organizing on may own pearltree section: http://pear.ly/TJ5X
Feel free to take a look and see how I organize it--could possibly help you out here.
Really sorry about deciding not to team up with you. by electronics Nov 5
Once you make the pearl "3D Printing - team curated," I will ask to team up with you. by electronics Nov 4
Yeah, just make a new pearltree ball called "3D Printing - team curated" inside the 3d printing (like you have done for "3dp Blogs" team pearltree ball). by electronics Nov 4
Not sure what you mean by a side PT. You mean a new pearl tree called 3DP that's team curated? by gerald.barnett Nov 4
Give me a side pearltree labeled 3D Printing - team curated and I will rearrange the pearls for you and you can see how I would do it if you like. by electronics Nov 4
All useful suggestions. I'm not finding that PT has the tools to do this stuff except as time-consuming hacks and workarounds. It would be great if there were better network and presentation tools--I've asked about those--such as multiple links, changing the color/lineshape for links, and cross-listing. As it is, PT is fun, but not very practical at information or semantic representation.
If I get an evening freed up I'll make a go at this. In the meantime, if someone wants to take it on, suggest a starting point and let's take one segment and re-do it. by gerald.barnett Nov 4
Finally the space industry and people in remote areas will be taking quite a bit of interest in 3D printers as the idea of being able to manufacture parts rather then stocking them is such a major bonus--so a specially mind mapped section with shortcut--goto--pearltree balls would be really appreciated by those people or groups.
Mind mapping concepts are desigend to remove complexity and structure things in the way we like to think and visualize things--that is why putting pictures in your pearltree balls to ID them is so important!!! It really does not take a long time to do it, you can create a picture in 1/2 a minute once you do it often enough. by electronics Nov 4
To tell you the truth, main item things like furniture, containers (vase, food, petcare), and art/scuptures will probably get a lot of attention.
I think home (large) scuptures or dividers that look unusual will also recieve quite a bit of attention too.
So make sure your mind mapping and piture ID for those pearltrees get a little more time spent on them--and possibly have shortcut links directly to them in a Popular 3D Objects pearltree ball (for example). by electronics Nov 4
The companies & suppliers of equipment (and materials perhaps) can remain in near the 3d printing pearltree ball as that is where people will look to find out how to 3D-print or to get their own 3D printer by electronics Nov 4
