Profound insights summed up in a few words... truth is simple yet profound, and I have always loved collecting the most helpful quotes that I can find, from books I've read, films and of course the classic quotes. My favorite of all is by little known Khurshed Batliwala and its truth is exhilarating: "We are made by love, we are made of love, and we are made for love."
Down to 1886 scholars were aware of a Gospel of Peter , but not so much as a single quotation from it was known. Origen casually refers to it in his Commentary on Matthew (10.17) when discussing the brethren of Jesus, and Eusebius records the negative opinion expressed by Bishop Serapion of Antioch after he had read a copy of this apocryphal gospel: ... most of it is indeed in accordance with the true teaching of the Savior, but some things are additions to that teaching, which items also we place below for your benefit.
Last updated 05:00 26/08/2012 The howling in Australia to dump "Dingo" Deans is getting louder. A crushing 22-0 loss to the All Blacks at Eden Park in Auckland last night will do nothing to pacify Robbie Deans' critics, who were already calling for him to be dumped as Wallabies coach before another disappointing defeat. Head of the moan brigade across the ditch is former Wallabies coach Alan Jones, who has been highly critical of Deans' coaching methods and lack of success since the Australian Rugby Union signed him in 2008. Jones launched an extraordinary tirade against the former Crusaders coach last week and there will plenty of venom aimed in Deans' direction in the coming days after the Aussies again failed to win the Bledisloe Cup.
Barnes' Notes on the Bible Lo, I am with you - That is, by my Spirit, my providence, my attending counsel and guidance. I will strengthen, assist, and direct you. This also proves that Christ is divine. If he is a mere man, or a creature, though of the highest order, how could he promise to be "with" his disciples "always," or at all?
Siva Sutras by Subhash C . Kak Preface
My daughter, Emerson, was sitting in her carseat in the back row of the van as we drove home from dinner one evening. She was four at the time. Discipline was not her strong suit that day, and as evening came she got more and more out of control. She was angry with me because I I had corrected her pretty sternly at dinner.
Though we do not know how to pronounce the sacred Name, we can be confident that the letters derive from the Hebrew verb "to be" (hayah) and indicate God's utter transcendence as the Source and Ground of all being. For each name in the list below, I provide the following information: The Hebrew text for the name The most common English transliteration (in italics) A definition for the name, references to the Tanakh, and frequency information Additional comments, if applicable. Prayer opened the door of my heart during my recent retreat. I was surrounded and supportive with prayers from others from their own life journeys and prayers that bubbled up within me as I spent time with God. Our retreat leader was Sister Nancy Brousseau, my mentor and spiritual guide through my formation as a spiritual director. Nancy always invites us to go deeper, to let go and plunge into God.
Isha (Yhsha) Upanishad Translated and Commentated by Swami Paramananda From the original Sanskrit Text This volume is reverently dedicated to all seekers of truth and lovers of wisdom This Upanishad desires its title from the opening words Isha–vasya, “God–covered.” The use of Isha (Lord)–a more personal name of the Supreme Being than Brahman, Atman or Self, the names usually found in the Upanishads–constitutes one of its peculiarities.
"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful." -- Billie Mobayed Can a soul lose its way or be broken? And if so, what can one do about it? These are some of the questions posed by readers of my last post: " Soul Stories: Discovering the Lessons of Your Soul's Journey ."
Summaries of the Spacetime Continuum, Einstein's Relativity, and Quantum Theories for beginning and advanced visitors, with Links to the Best Websites on Space, Time, Relativity, Quantum Theory, Quantum Gravity, Higg's Boson, Dark Matter and Energy, plus a discussion of the possibility that we live in an essentially atemporal universe. We present the general concept of Space and Time, usually called Spacetime or the Spacetime Continuum, and provide links to the main internet sources for exploring Space-Time, Relativity, and Quantum Physics. The Links are the most valuable feature of this website, including a link to the NOVA series Fabric of the Cosmos. Most of the linked sites are maintained by physics departments and professors at major universities, and will help you understand popular current theories. We then discuss some of the problems with these theories, which will eventually lead us to alternate interpretations.
Part One The Extreme Physics that Shape Reality The Cosmic Absolutes of Alpha and Omega If we could visually see the timeless realm of possibilities that exists around us we would quickly realize there is a vast unchanging architecture, immense and monumental beyond description, a world that is completely hidden from this world we know. And yet this other realm is actively shaping what is probable and possible for us in time. The American physicist John Wheeler referred to the realm of possibilities as Superspace, and the English theoretical physicist Julian Barbour named the same realm Platonia. Scientists in different fields generally refer to possibilities as state space, phase space, or configuration space. The large-scale realm of all possibilities shapes and governs our universe by producing probabilities, which we face everywhere we turn.
