Were you looking for Crack Magazine’s Big Thoughts On Theo? Tough. Space Dimension Controller: Mr. 8040 is back. Jack Hamill was 19 when he gained recognition for his music, but his age never really became a thing.

Space Dimension Controller: Mr. 8040 is back

In his case, there was so much more to talk about. The first Space Dimension Controller 12-inch, The Love Quandrant, was released in 2009 and showed an astonishing command of melody and synthesis for a newcomer. It also helped that this, and subsequent releases for R&S, who signed him as part of the label's "next generation," felt completely out of step with what was fashionable at the time; Hamill's brand of dance music came with a knowing wink and a tongue in its cheek, its influences drawn more from '80s funk than the roots of house.

Since he can remember, Hamill has been interested in film, which has lent his music another unique characteristic. In order to stir creativity, Hamill writes stories and characters and then composes the music that suits the narrative. I'm interested to know how you came up with the concept for the album. It was the story influencing the sound. Yeah. Dasha Rush: All you need is ears. "People tell me to pay money for promo of Fullpanda but I'm definitely never paying any money for promo of my label," says Dasha Rush.

Dasha Rush: All you need is ears

"If people want to buy a record they will buy a record. " It's this sentiment that has made the Russian-born producer familiar to only a small fraternity of artists and audiences. And if you haven't heard of her, well, it's probably for the very same reason. Since 2005 she's experimented with techno and ambient on her labels, Fullpanda and Hunger to Create, releasing two full-lengths and a handful of EPs. Her work has also appeared on Sonic Groove, the imprint run by her friend Adam X.

Levon Vincent: The golden ratio. "How can I make money in my lifetime without screwing people over?

Levon Vincent: The golden ratio

" This is the central question on Levon Vincent's mind. He has vast ambitions for the possibilities of his music—and he's worked hard enough to realize many of them already. But he has to do so on his own terms: Vincent is among the most fiercely independent techno producers to come along in some time. Yet that independence is as much due to politeness as anything else. Little White Earbuds Interviews Move D. David Moufang, or Move D as he’s more commonly known, is known as a musical taste-maker, experimenting with numerous interpretations of sound and their multitude of possibilities.

Little White Earbuds Interviews Move D

Moufang’s fascination dates back to being allowed to roam freely through his stepfather’s record collection and sound system at a young age, choosing his favorites by their artwork and playing them on a continuous loop. Moufang’s grandmother was a classical concert pianist and he fondly recalls sitting under the piano as she played, surrounded and lost in sound.

Briefly experimenting with guitar and playing drums in a school band followed, but it wasn’t until he was 26 that he says he made his first “good” record. The aftermath is possibly one of the finest discographies out there. It was in 1995 when David Moufang released the outstanding Kunststoff album that the German artist turned yet another corner. 16 years later and the LP remains one of the most recognizable techno albums ever made. No, no. No. Akufen: Playtime. Remember Marc Leclair?

Akufen: Playtime

It's fine if you don't. The Montreal DJ/producer known as Akufen and Horror Inc. (among other pseudonyms) keeps a low profile, rarely doing interviews or (these days) releasing music. There's a reason for that, though. After pioneering a clicks and cuts-heavy house sound, Leclair has gone back to the lab, searching for the next step in his career. I guess the obvious question to begin with is one that someone reading your Discogs page might ask: Where have you been lately, and what have you been doing? I've been living in the present moment with my child and my loved ones. One cannot expect inspiration to come easy every day. Dave Clarke...Murphy Interviews Techno's Hero! - The Spank! Reco.
