DC Motors Information on GlobalSpec

Their commutation can be brushed or brushless. The speed of a brushed DC motor can be controlled by changing the voltage alone. By contrast, an AC motor is powered by alternating current (AC) which is defined by both a voltage and a frequency. Consequently, motors that are powered by AC require a change in frequency to change speed, involving more complex and costly speed control. When selecting DC motors, industrial buyers need to identify the key performance specifications, determine design and size requirements, and consider the environmental requirements of their application. Performance Specifications Speed, torque, and operating voltage are the most important performance parameters for DC motors. Built with something from an Evil Mad Scientist. Using both coding and saber saws. "Sign me up! " was our reaction to all of this. We hope you enjoy our little project as well. Peggy2LE kit + a box fan = 3D awesomeness (no charge) There will be a quiz. First things first, lets cover how it works. Here is the end product standing still so we can see it better. On the bottom, is a standard box fan. In the middle, is a Peggy2LE kit from EvilMadScience.com It has 625 LEDs in a tightly packed 25x25 matrix. Surrounding the Peggy are bearings, a cross brace, and some aluminum rails supporting the whole lot. Barely visible, but highly essential are some magnets that the Peggy uses to know where it is.

The red lump on the right is a variac for finely adjusting the fan speed. General Build StepsThe first step is technically to acquire the parts. ECE476 Wireless Persistence of Vision. We set out to make an easy to interact with, highly custimizable POV display In deciding on a project we looked for a challenge that would have a good mix of hardware and software problems.

ECE476 Wireless Persistence of Vision

We ended up primarily concentrating on looking at unusual display technologies and decided that a persistence of vision(POV) display would be a good balance. A POV display is a display created by rotating an array of LEDs rapidly. Due to the fact that human eyes can only render so many images per second, the fast spinning LEDS seem like a solid display. While many POV projects have been designed before, they tend to be very static. We found the idea for the persistence of vision device (also known as a propeller clock) here. To improve upon the device we found, we wanted a way for the propeller clock to communicate with a computer and decided to use the serial protocol for this. In order to make our multipurpose propeller clock, we decided to make two main components. How the Equinox Clock was made. For people interested in how the Equinox clock was made a short description: The most important parts: Arduino Mini Pro USB-Serial converter 12x TLC5940PWP (SMD) Led drivers 60x RGB SMD LEDs DS1307 + battery to keep track of time Loads of circuitboards (12 black ones and 60 white ones) The clock works like this: In the bottom of the clock (behind the infinity symbol) is an arduino mini Pro.

How the Equinox Clock was made

The Arduino is connected to the first of a total of 12 black circuitboards. 433MHz RF Remote Control System. T he TWS-434 and RWS-434 are extremely small, and are excellent for applications requiring short-range RF remote controls. The transmitter module is only 1/3 the size of a standard postage stamp, and can easily be placed inside a small plastic enclosure. TWS-434 : The transmitter output is up to 8mW at 433.92MHz with a range of approximately 400 foot (open area) outdoors. Indoors, the range is approximately 200 foot, and will go through most walls.....

The TWS-434 transmitter accepts digital inputs, can operate from 1.5 to 12 Volts-DC, and makes building a miniature hand-held RF transmitter very easy. The TWS-434 is approximately the size of a standard postage stamp. How Touch Buttons work - Electronic Theory. 2 January 2011 Author: Giorgos Lazaridis How Touch Buttons work The Resistance and AC Hum touch switch I was fascinated with the look and feel of the touch button when i first turned on my brand new TFT monitor Mechanical buttons and switches cannot become obsolete for various reasons.

The Resistance touch switchThe AC hum touch switchesThe Capacitive touch switch The Resistance touch switch The resistance touch switch is based on the fact that human tissues (like the skin), have a great amount of water and salt, something that makes it conductive. This is the most basic type of touch switch, in its simplest form. There are numerous different ways to implement a resistance touch switch, with transistors, with 555, with 741, with CMOS and many more. Advantages: Super simple, super reliable Disadvantages: Not very flexible in design, two electrodes required. Build A Digital Tachometer/RPM Counter - Introduction. A tachometer is a tool that mechanics or engineers in general use very often.

Build A Digital Tachometer/RPM Counter - Introduction

A normal tachometer will be able to tell you how fast something is moving in a complete rotation. A good example is on cars, you will see a tachometer counting the RPMs of your engine. With the new smaller microcontrollers and some simple circuitry, it's actually very easy to build your own digital tachometer. This tutorial will make use of an infraded diode and detector to build the digital tachometer/rpm counter. Below are some pictures of the final setup. Protean Electric. Printed Motor Works.
