Get flash to fully experience Pearltrees
Despite having learned crochet about 5 years ago and revelling in the beauty of yarns, years of sketching in black and white have left me useless at coordinating more than 2 colors on my own. However, I do have very evident colors that I gravitate towards. For example, when I make a quick trip down the block to my local yarn shop, I am immediately drawn to anything in the light-vibrant-lime green range. A good recent example is my recently(ish) finished Owlings mitts: The rest of my winter wardrobe also sports a similar color scheme, though as I stated earlier, I can’t match or coordinate to save my life, so I’ve got some bright green mitts, a darker, dustier green hat, and a green and blue scarf.

The DIY Cardboard Box Inkle Loom | Weavolution
Notes: I made these two looms out of heavy cardboard boxes. For folks who are really curious about the process but can't afford to spend too much money on equipment for a process they aren't sure if they will enjoy/do often! These looms are pretty sturdy, but they have some limitations.Bedfordshire.htm
All the Bedfordshire prickings are accompanied by a picture of the completed lace, details of threads and bobbins required and instructions for working. The Summer Leaves Insertions patterns also have instructions for mounting and suggestions for use. This list of the designs gives details of size, cost of pattern and a small picture of the lace. Wovember
Judging the Wovember competition photographs has taken a short while because in deciding which photos should win, several factors emerged. We realised that because WOVEMBER is essentially a campaign site, the winning entries should somehow make WOOL accessible and exciting for new audiences; to speak somehow of the virtues of WOOL in a way which could be convincing to someone with no initial interest in this amazing substance. We also realised that the meaning of 100% WOOL is a very broad brief, and one which you have interpreted in a variety of ingenious ways, and we felt it was important for the diversity of your amazing entries to be represented in the final selection. We are very happy to have found our winners ! However there were *so many* beautiful photographs amongst your submissions, that we thought there may be some added benefit to sharing our process of selection, and also revisiting the long list and the short list which we have deliberated over in the past few weeks.supplies

I'm already noticing leaves fall off the branches outside my office window. Although I'll miss all the pretty green, it reminds me of all I have to look forward to with the changing season. Sweaters and scarves, hot chocolate and holidays... so much to get excited over! Today's post is inspired by those Autumn trees and, of course, the the holidays.

The cooler might leak and the kids might complain, but the sense of freedom and adventure you get from hitting the open road is truly one of the season's great pleasures. This is the free pattern “ Wind-and-Sea ” by Kristi Porter. The bulk of the hat is worked in NaturallyCaron.com Spa but I decided it needed a little extra impact and cast-on in some black yarn I had on hand. I worked one extra row then the first repeat before changing to the beige.
