How to make gift bags from newspaper When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Tiny Polaroid Magnets Hi there! It’s felt like forever since I’ve last blogged, and has felt like an eternity since I’ve done anything crafty and nifty. Since my morning sickness has gone into full speed (yes, we’re expecting our third this fall!) I haven’t felt like myself. But nothing like inspiration to wake one out of a reverie — or nightmare, in my constantly sick state.

homework: creative inspiration for home and life: Inkling: paper mache confetti bowl I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s very hard for me to throw away scraps of paper. I wouldn’t exactly classify it as hoarding but it could become a problem if I don’t use up the bits and pieces. This bowl wasn’t made out of paper scraps but paper catalogs. When I attended CHA in January, I came home with a lot of catalogs. The paper catalogs have pages and pages of pictures of pretty paper.

Jeff Rudell Wipe Off Weekly Menu Board I am a meal planner. I refuse to go grocery shopping without my week’s worth of meals planned out and list made. steampunk fashion - Book purse Book purses were mentioned on here a little while back. I thought you might like to see the one I made. It's a nice accessory for the librarian side of steampunk! I had my eye on some attractively bound Reader's Digest Condensed Books (I have no pity for them) that were in the local library book sale, but wanted a little more space than one book could give me. So I made a box-type purse out of three. DIY Bookshelf from Unfinished Wooden Crates This charming rustic bookshelf is easy to make out of unfinished wooden crates from Walmart. Let me show you how! I have seen a variety of attractive wooden crate projects over the years, so I was excited when Walmart recently started carrying unfinished wooden crates–I just knew that sooner or later they would ask me to do a craft project and I’d have a perfect excuse to build some shelves. I’m a reader and my kids are readers, so we frequently are over run with library books, our own books and magazines in the den. I really wanted a narrow bookshelf to fit in an unused corner to corral them all! This DIY Bookshelf made from the unfinished crates (finished by Yankee Bill and me of course) is perfect.

rolled paper flowers {tutorial} Welcome to flower week – five days of simple and delightful flower projects. I could probably do three weeks of flowers because there are so many different ways to create them, but I’ve limited it to five of my current favorites.
