The Hazel Bloom: The Best Macaroni and Cheese Recipe Ever

The Hazel Bloom: The Best Macaroni and Cheese Recipe Ever
I can say this is the best macaroni and cheese recipe ever because it's not really my recipe. I tweaked it a tiny bit - basically made it even more fattening - but otherwise, it's someone else's. It's from someone named Bev, who posted her recipe on Recipezaar and to whom I am eternally grateful. See, macaroni and cheese is pretty much my all-time favorite food. Always has been. Cases in point: One of my first-ever memories is of sitting down in front of the TV with a bowl full of macaroni and cheese and watching Emergency! I should probably stop there. So back to Bev. Bev is probably totally creeped out now too. I'm a total freakfest today. Oh - and this recipe is great with many noodles other than macaroni (like penne, yum!) Okay, I'm shutting up now. (Conchiglie pasta - this organic Montebello stuff is out of this world:) Here's the recipe! Adapted from the Bev's Macaroni and Cheese recipe on Recipezaar Serves 5 - 6 Ingredients 8 oz. to 10 oz. macaroni or other pasta (like conchiglie!)

Celebrates National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month - 10 Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich Creations EVER! April is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month. That’s right: Someone (somewhere) has proclaimed this popular comfort food worthy of a monthlong celebration. Beloved and reinvented by even the most celebrated chefs, the grilled cheese has long-since outgrown its white bread and processed cheese days. Below, find a roundup of the best tributes to this American staple.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Smooth, creamy, decadent cheesecake studded with sweet morsels of cookie dough and bursts of mini chocolate chips? All atop a chocolatey, buttery crust? Garnished with sweetened whipped cream and more chocolate chips? Oh baby, sign me up for a cookie dough cheesecake IV. Immediately. Limber de Coco (Coconut Cream Popsicles) Limber de Coco In every neighborhood in Puerto Rico there is an old lady that will sell you limber for 50 cents, back in my day it was 25 cents. Usually she will come out in a “bata” or mu-mu with curlers in her hair. I remember when I was a little girl there was this lady that lived down the street and sold limber in 5 different flavors, coconut was my favorite.

Italian Grilled Cheese Who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese? And, I know it’s totally Ameeeerican to make the classic: American cheese, mayonnaise and bread. But, why not change it a bit and use REALLY fresh and natural ingredients?!?!? Love it! The Baker's Daughter It has been an absolutely awful spring here in Ontario, so to celebrate the nice weather last weekend, our friends had us over for an afternoon bbq. I needed a quick something to make for dessert and the hostess loves lemon things so I thought this dessert was appropriate for the first really nice day of the year. I've used an 8 inch fluted tart tin for this recipe and you can use any berries or fruit you'd like, just use whatever looks good. Marinating the raspberries in Lemoncello was such a quick and easy way to brighten up this recipe and add a little something, something to it. Mother's Day is coming up and this would a sweet treat for any mom! Fresh Lemon Raspberry Tart

The Baker's Daughter: Polka dot cheesecake I saw someone wearing the greatest polka dot rain coat today and it inspired me to make this cheesecake. It needs to be refrigerated overnight so make sure you make it the day before you want to serve it. I find that popping it into the freezer for about 1/2 hour makes it a lot easier to cut. Using a knife dipped in hot water between cuts also helps to make clean edges.

The Infamous Jacques Torres Chocolate Chip Cookies Now, I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that I swear by. I love it, I think it is incredible, and I haven’t changed my mind about that. However, as much as it pains me to say it, these chocolate chip cookies by Jacques Torres are absolutely, without a doubt, the best chocolate chip cookies that I have ever made or tasted in my entire life. I guess that’s why they call him Mr. Chocolate!

Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites On Fridays, I teach cooking classes to two kids in our neighborhood. They are pretty knowledgeable-so my job is easy:) I think it is fantastic that they want to learn how to cook at such a young age-they are in the 3rd and 4th grade. Since we don’t have any kiddos yet, I am glad I get to work with these kids. We have a great time in the kitchen. On Friday we made homemade soft pretzels, the traditional salty ones and cinnamon and sugar pretzels.

The Ultimate Strawberry Lemonade One of the first times I ever realized that – HEY! I can cook for myself! – was when I first learned to make lemonade. I magically found the refrigerated lemon juice at our house and followed the directions to make my own lemonade. I stirred and stirred and stirred again until that sugar was finally dissolved. Caramel Apple Sticky Buns I’ll just say it: I’m not a big fan of nuts on or in my cinnamon rolls or sticky buns. To me, big chunks of nuts are a distraction. A distraction from the pure, unabashed ridiculousness of the gooey, fattening rolls. You can add nuts to this recipe, of course, but I encourage you to try them without first…just once.
