What I Use and Why: My eLearning Toolkit The year of 2014 was a great year of discovery for me in terms of eLearning tool, websites, companies, and services. I posted a list of free (or cheaper) tools and even found a few more after the post was published. I plan on revisiting the list a little later in the year but wanted to share "What's in my Course Design Toolkit" for Challenge #35. These are the tools that if I lost browser favorites/bookmarks or licenses I would immediately put them back in and/or throw a little hissy fit ;) Course Development 46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom Infographics are interesting–a mash of (hopefully) easily-consumed visuals (so, symbols, shapes, and images) and added relevant character-based data (so, numbers, words, and brief sentences). The learning application for them is clear, with many academic standards–including the Common Core standards–requiring teachers to use a variety of media forms, charts, and other data for both information reading as well as general fluency. It’s curious they haven’t really “caught on” in schools considering how well they bridge both the old-form textbook habit of cramming tons of information into a small space, while also neatly overlapping with the dynamic and digital world. So if you want to try to make infographics–or better yet have students make them–where do you start? The 46 tools below, curated by Faisal Khan, are a good place to start.

Projects enable you to track status and due dates separately from your tasks while adding information directly to the Project itself: Project Owner, Start Date, End Dates, Custom Fields, plus any attachments or conversations that the project team will want to access. Watch the video above or read below to learn about best practices for how to use Projects, Folders, and Tasks: Twitter as a tool for learningScoop Social media often gets a bad rap for being a driving force behind people falling out of touch, neglecting in-person relationships, and reducing productivity for people around the world. Naysayers blame it for shorter attention spans and proliferation of bad grammar, and the most vehement of those naysayers believe that social media has led to privacy being a thing of the past. To be fair, there have been many times where I’ve been trolling my Twitter feed only to be thoroughly horrified by TMI moments and tHingz Speld lIKE THIZ.

Canvas Learning Management System Will itget used? 1. Is it easyto use? “Canvas is on the leading edge. The SpeedGrader, the ability to record audio/video while grading and the use of rubrics is worth the cost of the entire package! A practical guide to tactical mobile prototyping This is an edited excerpt from Chapter 6 of The Mobile Frontier: A Guide For Designing Mobile Experiences, published by Rosenfeld Media. Regardless of the 'why' for your particular prototype, selecting the right prototyping method for your mobile UX project is a lot like selecting a good book. There are countless options to choose from, so how do you pick the right one? Similar to asking yourself, “What type of book am I in the mood for?"
