Lace printed stationary Lace doily candle holder: made by soaking doilies in wallpaper glue or sugar starch and forming around a balloon. Sugar starch is 1/4c water mixed with 3/4 cup granulated sugar. For more permanency use fabric stiffener such as Stiffy.

Did you say you don’t have snow and want to do some dyeing? Well, before I put up my dyeing stuff, I thought I’d try one more type of dyeing – ice dyeing. For those of us who don’t have snow or would like to try this in the summer, this is an alternative. Finally–the long-awaited beltmaking tutorial! way I make my fabric-covered belts has been learned from a mix of trial-and-error and vintage manuals. The supplies are simple, and making a simple pass-through belt is quite easy. I have, however, included instructions for how to add a pronged buckle to a belt and add eyelets. Every year this little town of Pacific Grove, CA is host to the Butterfly Parade. The parade welcomes the Monarch butterflies to the city, their winter home. It also gives the elementary school children the opportunity to march in the parade dressed as lady bugs, sea otters, moon jellies, clowns, and patriots, but the true attraction is the kindergartners all dressed as Monarch Butterflies. It is a sight that even makes me cynical heart sing. My boy walked in the parade 6 years ago, but this year it was my girlie's turn.
