By David Gray Along the road to one of China’s most famous tourist landmarks – the Great Wall of China – sits what could potentially have been another such tourist destination, but now stands as an example of modern-day China and the problems facing it. Situated on an area of around 100 acres, and 45 minutes drive from the center of Beijing, are the ruins of ‘Wonderland’. Construction stopped more than a decade ago, with developers promoting it as ‘the largest amusement park in Asia’. Funds were withdrawn due to disagreements over property prices with the local government and farmers. http://blogs.reuters.com/photographers-blog/2011/12/12/chinas-deserted-fake-disneyland/

Garden path sentence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_path_sentence A garden path sentence is a grammatically correct sentence that starts in such a way that a reader's most likely interpretation will be incorrect; the reader is lured into a parse that turns out to be a dead end. Garden path sentences are used in psycholinguistics to illustrate the fact that when human beings read, they process language one word at a time. "Garden path" refers to the saying "to be led down the garden path", meaning "to be misled". According to one current psycholinguistic theory, as a person reads a garden path sentence, the reader builds up a structure of meaning one word at a time. At some point, it becomes clear to the reader that the next word or phrase cannot be incorporated into the structure built up thus far; it is inconsistent with the path down which they have been led.

The world's ten creepiest abandoned cities

http://www.gadling.com/2011/04/27/the-worlds-ten-creepiest-abandoned-cities/ Some cities die. The people leave, the streets go quiet, and the isolation takes on the macabre shape of a forlorn ghost-town - crumbling with haunting neglect and urban decay. From Taiwan to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, these abandoned cities lurk in the shadows of civilization. Their histories are carried in hushed whispers and futures stillborn from the day of their collapse. Some have fallen victim to catastrophe while others simply outlive their function . I think we can all agree on one thing - they are all very creepy.

Dont Be a Victim

Never, under any circumstances, turn your back on a goat. This is Rule Number One of Goat Trauma Avoidance. Avoid petting zoos. The majority of goat traumas occurring each year take place at petting zoos. Stay alert. Goats are deceitful and can hide just about anywhere. http://www.goat-trauma.org/victim.shtml
