John, that's been done a long time ago and has been regularly updated except for the few cameras listed below. I have given the link to the page that shows all the models that are compatible and David S. and I have added the few models not on that list in recent posts. They are: A490, A495, A800 (needs user test), A1000 G12 SX20, SX130IS, SX210IS Even though the SX230HS has been ported, it was found to have poor sync and it is assumed that camera models introduced from 2011 onwards will sync poorly.

Here is again how this works: Whenever you wonder if camera X is going to be ported to SDM, first check if it has been ported to CHDK. It's pretty simple stuff if you know anything about electronics, and if you don't you probably shouldn't be messing with them. I've added a 3.5mm sync port, and i've added a port that takes 6V instead of using internal batteries (I used an RCA plug because I had some handy). I removed the part that holds batteries in because I don't need them any more. The result is I don't have to use the useless, small, poorly positioned internal sync port, and using a 6V sealed lead acid battery the recharge time drops from 12s to 3s. Just a note - even if you discharge them these things hold a fair bit of voltage, I gave myself about five shocks even though I was being semi-careful.
