Alternatively, and commonly in UK usage, it is a holiday spent in one's home country rather than abroad.[1] Common activities of a staycation include use of the backyard pool, visits to local parks and museums, and attendance at local festivals and amusement parks.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC, (RoHS 1), short for Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union.[2] The RoHS 1 directive took effect on 1 July 2006, and is required to be enforced and became a law in each member state.[3] This directive restricts (with exceptions) the use of ten hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.

Jaywalking. Sign prohibiting jaywalking in Singapore's Orchard Road Jaywalking occurs when a pedestrian walks in or crosses a roadway that has traffic, other than at a suitable crossing point, or otherwise in disregard of traffic rules.

Jaywalking

The term originated with "jay-drivers", people who drove horse-drawn carriages and automobiles on the wrong side of the road, before taking its current meaning.[1] Jaywalking laws vary widely by jurisdiction. In many countries such as the United Kingdom, the word is not generally used and there are no laws limiting how pedestrians can use public highways. This has caused confusion among tourists and other people visiting countries with such laws.[2] Sleeper agent. Purgatory. Tilly Smith. Tilly Smith (born 1994) is an English woman who has been credited with saving the lives of about 100 beachgoers at Maikhao Beach in Thailand by warning them minutes before the arrival of the tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.[1][2] Smith, who was ten years old at the time, had learned about tsunamis in her geography class.

Tilly Smith

Early life[edit] Smith learned about tsunamis in a geography lesson[3][4] two weeks before the tsunami from her teacher Andrew Kearney at Danes Hill School[5] in Oxshott, Surrey.[6][7] She recognised the signs of receding water from the shoreline and frothing bubbles on the surface of the sea and alerted her parents, who warned others on the beach and the staff at the hotel in Phuket where they were staying.[8] The beach was evacuated before the tsunami reached shore, and was one of the few beaches on the island with no reported casualties.[9][10] Education[edit] Samuel Reshevsky. He was an accountant by profession, and a well-regarded chess writer.

Early life, early chess exhibition and competition[edit] Reshevsky was born at Ozorków near Łódź, Poland, to a Jewish family.[2] He learned to play chess at age four and was soon acclaimed as a child prodigy. At age eight, he was beating many accomplished players with ease and giving simultaneous exhibitions. Ship of Theseus. Philosophical question Thought experiment[edit] If it is supposed that the famous ship sailed by the hero Theseus in a great battle was kept in a harbour as a museum piece, and as the years went by some of the wooden parts began to rot and were replaced by new ones; then, after a century or so, every part had been replaced.

The question then is if the "restored" ship is still the same object as the original. If it is then supposed that each of the removed pieces were stored in a warehouse, and after the century, technology developed to cure their rotting and enabled them to be put back together to make a ship, then the question is if this "reconstructed" ship is still the original ship. And if so, then the question also regards the restored ship in the harbour still being the original ship as well.[1] No identity over time[edit] List of High Impact Articles.
