Free formed spaces which are not subject to the mathematical rigidity of offices present the points of diverse mutual communication. The challenge was to give purpose to and to design the free formed spaces and thus create a junction which represents emphasis in the space. The concept of transforming the free formed spaces into the points of interaction, which was dictated by the requirement to use the space in various ways, brainstorming, short meetings, briefings, work, relaxation, privacy and socialising, has been the guideline for designing meeting islands.
The space is intended for communication at a moment's notice and is thus designed as a half-open shell shaped space, which ensures acoustic and visual protection due to its design as well as the necessary privacy. Using three colors you get a fascinating optical effect. Putting together these two principles we obtain the idea for this product: making a stool from a single basic piece (a leg with 1/3 of the seat), which repeated three times becomes a stool and many of them in combination create a borderless surface with infinite pattern combinations. He recently extended this idea to another piece – a coffee table. Called REK just like the bookcase, the piece is based on the same functional principle – the smaller panels slide inside the bigger frame, allowing the table to grow with your needs. Built-in stops prevent you from rolling out the sliding parts too far. You can also secure the piece in a desired position.
