Horchata Hits the Spot on a Hot, Summer Day - The Amateur Gourmet Community

He absolutely loves that stuff, and when I told him I could pretty easily make it myself, a huge smile spread across his face. He looked like a kid in a candy store. I decided then and there to come up with a homemade recipe to make for him the next day. This summer in New York City has been one of the hottest I can remember, and this cool, refreshing horchata definitely hits the spot on a hot, summer day. It is also common to add the zest of a lime for that extra zing. Categories: Recipes. Pineapple Cooler. Strawberry Agua Fresca Recipe. News Flash: I have a new favorite drink!

Strawberry Agua Fresca Recipe

And it’s not wine, coffee or peanut butter hot chocolate (gasp!)!! I’m completely and hopefully addicted to this fresh strawberry agua fresca and you will be, too, once you try it! It’s a great alternative to lemonade and iced tea, and is ridiculously refreshing at any hour of the day. Plus, if your strawberries are as cheap as my strawberries right now (buy one carton and get two free!) You have no excuse not to make this. All you do to make this is just puree fresh juicy strawberries, strain out the seeds and then mix the puree with ice water, a little sugar and a squeeze of lime. I love the bright, pretty color most of all! It would be perfect served in large pitchers at Easter brunch, baby showers or barbecues. If somebody else wants to steal my million dollar idea, that’s fine. Strawberry Agua Fresca serves 3 Print this recipe! Ingredients: 1 lb strawberries, stems removed and sliced in half 2 1/2 cups cold water 3-4 T sugar juice of two limes Time:

Homemade Energy Drink. I started out with the intention of coming up with a recipe for a homemade version of the store bought energy drinks, but after doing some research and discovering how unhealthy they are for you, I decided instead to try and design a less sugar/caffeine fueled way to help myself through the workday afternoon sleepy slump.

What I landed on was a system of three drinks and some energy boosting ideas that are going a long way to helping me keep my energy up all day long! Here's the good on the drinks: The Fire Hydrant (left) - 3-4 8oz glasses throughout the day filtered water 1 slice lemon 1 pinch cayenne pepper Other than getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night, staying hydrated is the most important thing you can do to help keep your body functioning at optimum levels. *For an explanation of lemons' miraculous transition from acidic outside of the body, to alkaline once ingested, visit this link: Cut off two thin slices of ginger and place in your cup or mug.

According to Dr. Cherry-Almond Syrup + Making All-Natural Soda Without A Soda Machine! HOMEMADE ITALIAN CREAM SODAS. Home Made Flavored Whey Protein Powder Naturally Sweetened. It’s no secret to anyone by now I guess that I am a big fan of whey protein powder… I mean, I put that @#*!

Home Made Flavored Whey Protein Powder Naturally Sweetened

In everything… almost literally! However, not all protein powders are created equal and when you start analyzing them, you realize that a lot of them contain all sorts of “unwanted added stuff”. ESPECIALLY when you start looking at flavored Whey Protein Powder. It’s almost near impossible to find one that doesn’t contain nasty artificial sweeteners, such as sucralose or aspartame, as well as a whole lot of artificial flavorings. Those that are naturally sweetened with Stevia are very hard to come across and when you do find one that’s good, well, it often ends up being way too sweet.

Not that I mind, really, for French Vanilla happens to be my favorite and the one kind of powder that I use the most. But sometimes, only sometimes, you know, I happen to be in the mood for something a little more… chirpy! So I decided to take the bull by the horn and create my own flavored powder at home.
