Bob Linnell, Conservation Agrologist Saskatchewan Soil Conservation Association, Weyburn Sk Success Factors: There are a number of factors for success in direct seeding, and anyone either starting out or with several years of experience will concur with all of these as follows: Residue Management Weed Control Fertility Management Crop Rotations Seed-To-Soil Contact Management Details of each of these are illustrated in slides shown today, but the basic content is very important especially when it comes to consideration of machinery modifications and retrofitting.

Plows from the world

American Agricultural Implements: A Review of Invention and Development in the Agricultural Implement Industry of the United States . Chicago: R. L. Ardrey, 1894. [format: book], [genre: report]. Part I. The Development of the American Plow. THE first agricultural implement used by prehistoric man, as shown by remains found in peat bogs of England, France and other countries, was a hooked stick, or sometimes a stag's horn, adapted to the work of digging and stirring the soil in planting seed. The records of the past fail to show us when and where metal points or shares were first used.

In a later period, probably in the time of Cincinnatus and Cato, the Romans used a plow that was quite different from the older patterns common in various countries. Harvester / Moissoneuse

Mechanical Harvesting of Lentils. Although lentil is a valuable source of protein for humans and its straw is a highly valued animal feed, its production in West Asia and North Africa (WANA) is limited due to harvesting difficulties, including uneven ripening, lodging, growing of pods close to the ground, and shattering of seeds and leaves at maturity.

Mechanical Harvesting of Lentils

Existing mechanical harvesting systems cause excessive seed (up to 55%) and leaf losses. Harvesting is therefore still commonly done by hand, but manual labour is becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. The objective of this study was to design and test a cutter/feeder mechanism for mechanical harvesting of lentils. SP Series Maize Version. Spring Overseeding? Absolutely!

It may not feel like it in most parts of the country but tomorrow (March 20) is the first day of Spring. And like most, you probably think that the best time to overseed your grass is in the Fall. And, really, it is. But there are times when you need to overseed in the Spring. If you have that task staring you in the face, Land Pride can help.

Here's how. Before beginning the overseeding process, mow your lawn short – two inches or so – and pick up all leaves and debris from your yard. Apply your seed with a Land Pride All-Purpose Seeder (APS) or an Overseeder (OS) . Once seeded, do not apply fertilizer that contains weed killer or pre-emergent of any kind; this will prevent your new seed from germinating. After overseeding, make sure you water often. So what are you waiting for?

The planting attachment consists of hopper, inclined plate metering mechanism fitted in the hopper, furrow openers, ground wheel, power transmission mechanism and seed tubes. For operation, the seed is filled in the hopper, seeds are picked up by the cells of inclined plate and delivered in the opening connected to furrow opener through seed tubes.
