Kitchen Helpers - StumbleUpon I found these helpful charts last week and just had to share! Both of these beauties are from Chasing Delicious (aka one of the most fab foodie blogs out there)! Aren’t they faaaaabulous?! Desserts That Are Almost Too Cute To Eat & Pretty Please Us Blog: Your guide to fashion, beauty, style & everything else in between. Hi, my name is Himani and I’m a sugar addict. But the only thing that holds me back from devouring a sinful concoction is if it looks super cute. You know… because cute desserts deserve to live longer than the ugly ones (I’m going to some sort of sugar-y hell for that one). Nathan Myhrvold's bible of molecular gastronomy Smithsonian profiles Microsoft billionaire Nathan Myhrvold, author of Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking, the new multi-volume bible of molecular gastronomy (although they don't like that term): Myhrvold, (famed modernist chef Ferran) Adrià and other chefs reject that label as inaccurate. Besides, as a phrase to lure restaurant customers it’s not exactly up there with Steak Frites.

Get Cooking with Free Online Learning Resources Reading an unfamiliar recipe can be frustrating: What steps, exactly, do you take to butterfly a chicken? How small is a fine dice? When the recipe says, “cook until browned,” just how brown should it be? Cooking lessons can give you clarity on all those questions, and impart skills to improve your kitchen abilities. How visits with them are stressful and awkward and generally awful for many people? Yeah, not me. I got kinda lucky on that whole “in-law” thing. And I’m not just writing this to kiss-up to my in-laws because I know there’s a good chance they’re reading this. Coffee-Scented Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Coffee Buttercream OK, I’ll admit… I totally didn’t understand the “scented” cupcake thing until now. You always hear those fancy bakers from posh cupcakeries talk about pistachio-scented this and almond-scented that. And you know what? It used to sound silly to me. But now I totally get it. In my Google quest to figure out what makes a really moist chocolate cake, I added a little secret ingredient to these cupcakes (the ones I baked into mason jars with my leftover batter).

Baked Egg Boat recipe Breakfast is my favorite meal. I like to drink iced coffee and watch the cream climb its way down the chunky ice cubes in a dazy before the caffeine hits. I like to order bacon with whatever I’m eating. I like eating potatoes with ketchup. Truffled Mac and Cheese Share this image Share It Pin It You'd think that after all of the rich food I ate over Thanksgiving that I'd be subsisting on carrots and celery through December. Instead, last night I decided that Mac and Cheese would be a more appropriate meal and Kraft just wasn't going to cut it. I used this recipe and substituted Horseradish Cheddar and added some truffle salt for a little bite and an indulgent touch.
