Pour a Glass of Wine and Sink Into One of These Unusual, Luxurious Bathtubs
This is the photo that got me busy writing this ideabook. I had never before seen a glass-sided bathtub, and this one completely appeals to my minimalist tendencies. The architect, David Stern, says the client wanted this custom made tub for the kids bathroom and wanted it to feel fresh and fun. Well, he succeeded. But here is what I want to know: Why should the kids have all the fun? I have a rubber ducky.

Futuristic Overhead + Under Bed = Space-Saving Shelving & Storage Saving space is not something we do for its own sake – in this case, a cutting-edge media room was the goal, and cleverly lofting and concealing of books, CDs and DVDs provided the floor space to make this dream den a reality. Johan wanted to use ever spare bit of wall surface for a larger television and smaller wall-mounted computer screen – no dressers and few shelves getting in the way, nor objects behind the couch to cramp the distance between seating and screens. Wrap-around shelving features thicker top and bottom borders, creating a dynamic series of stripes that animate and decorate the space – being pushed out from the wall, these in turn allow for under-shelf indirect lighting in addition to a central overhead light fixture. Audiophiles and film fanatics may find this cozy corner nook to be of secondary concern, but its existence enables the rest of the open-plan redesign … and for those of us who like little lofts and interior hideaways, it looks like a lovely space to read.

Gorgeous Inward Facing Home in Mexico City [30 pics] Photograph by Pim Schalkwijk Finding a little peace and privacy in the largest metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere can be challenging. A typical house design faces outward, with the front of your home facing the street and your backyard… well it’s in the back :) The architects at twentyfourseven addressed this challenge by designing a home that is L-shaped, leaving a gorgeous plot of exterior space within the confines of the property. The AE House in Mexico City is a little slice of tranquility amongst the bustle and busyness of this gigantic city with gorgeous interior and exterior spaces throughout. Enjoy! before & after: trolley depot renovation It’s always been my dream to live in a home with airy, open rooms and lots of exposed bricks, so when this renovation project from Amy came across my desk, I was instantly smitten. Located in Atlanta, this building is about 100 years old and originally served as a trolley depot. Thankfully, Amy and her husband did a wonderful job preserving many of the original details while adding some modern touches that complement the overall aesthetic beautifully.

Green Village Green Village, founded by jewelry designer John Hardy and designed by his daughter Elora, is a community of sustainable and ecological houses sitting along the Ayung River in Bali. Each of the homes are made entirely of bamboo, from Bali-based bamboo and construction company Ibuku, from the window frames to the staircase, tables, chairs, floors, and even the cabinets and the walls. Did you know that with very little attention or additional resources, a bamboo shoot can become a structural column within three years and that house could stand strong for a lifetime? Honestly, amazing. (Green Village via designboom) The Coolest Elevator in New York Last week, I was scouting office space in a building in Queens. My guide brought me to this totally unassuming elevator: Really, I have to show you this as I encountered it: WOW. It’s like Willy Wonka built an elevator to the land of Oz! Easily the coolest elevator I’ve ever been on in New York:

43 Bedrooms Where One Wall Features A Spectacular Wallpaper There are many cool things in Scandinavian interiors to learn from. They are usually quite simple and strict but there are some exceptions.
