eCommerce Web Site Design Solutions - Gproxy Design Blog: Gartner Ranks NetSuite as North America's Fastest Growing Growing Financial Management System Vendor Among Top 10 NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), a leading vendor of cloud computing business software suites that provide Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Ecommerce software , today announced that it is the fastest growing Financial Management System vendor in North America amongst the top 10 vendors, according to the latest research from Gartner Dataquest (Market Share: ERP Software, North America, 2008). Despite the tough economic environment, and modest growth in the overall ERP market of 3.4 percent, NetSuite posted 41.1 percent growth in 2008 — its performance sharply contrasting with the results of the traditional on-premise vendors. For the first time, SAP's North American market share actually declined, and only one other vendor managed to achieve double-digit growth. "Gartner's findings indicate what we have always believed, that mission critical financial and business systems will ultimately be run in the Cloud," said Zach Nelson, CEO at NetSuite .

CapEx v OpEx: does it matter who is holding the purse strings? The information technology industry and the finance industry both have more than their fair share of abbreviations and acronyms. The former has the likes of MoBo and TCP/IP, whilst the latter has the likes of IFRS and SSAP, and most of the time there isn’t much overlap between the two sets of terms of reference. But every now and again a word or phrase makes it across the great divide, and the two worlds find themselves speaking almost the same language. This works reasonably well when you have terms such as CPM and ERP, and everybody knows what they are talking about; it works less well when you have terms such as CapEx and OpEx, and everybody thinks they know what they are talking about. ‘There’s a big difference between what accounting and technology types mean when they use these terms of reference together,’ says Richard Anning, who is head of the IT faculty at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

SAP hopes to increase its database market share - Oracle Clients using Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, and other platforms for their database needs may soon have another alternative to consider. At the Sapphire conference in Orlando earlier this week, SAP announced that it will complete porting its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application to the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) database by the end of this year. The move could allow SAP to make some noise in the database market, as it would offer cost advantages over some of its more widely known competitors. As it stands, Sybase ASE's market share is overshadowed by the likes of Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft. One area where ASE does have a strong presence is with financial institutions. Once SAP finishes the porting process, it promises that its ERP customers will be equipped with a database equal to the one “that powers Wall Street.”
