Linn Music Ivor Tiefenbrun has always been passionate about music. Sent out by his wife to buy much-needed furniture for their first flat, he came back with a hi-fi. He bought an expensive turntable and speakers but was deeply disappointed by the sound quality — he could only listen to music for a couple of hours, before wanting to turn it off. 8-Year-Olds Publish Scientific Bee Study A group of British schoolchildren may be the youngest scientists ever to have their work published in a peer-reviewed journal. In a new paper in Biology Letters, 25 8- to 10-year-old children from Blackawton Primary School report that buff-tailed bumblebees can learn to recognize nourishing flowers based on colors and patterns. “We discovered that bumblebees can use a combination of colour and spatial relationships in deciding which colour of flower to forage from,” the students wrote in the paper’s abstract. “We also discovered that science is cool and fun because you get to do stuff that no one has ever done before.” The paper itself is well worth reading. It’s written entirely in the kids’ voices, complete with sound effects (part of the Methods section is subtitled, “‘the puzzle’…duh duh duuuhhh”) and figures drawn by hand in colored pencil.

MP3 Ideaweb 1. One More Time 2. Aerodynamic 3. Live-Radio This is Live-Radio.net, your one-stop website for listening to live radio stations from around the world! Here you'll find links to THOUSANDS of online radio stations worldwide, all of which, with free software, you will be able to hear through your computer. This is GREAT if you are living away from home and want to listen to news from your country, or maybe even your home town radio station which may be online. Or perhaps you might have been a DX-er and your favourite station is no longer available on MW/SW - many of the old shortwave broadcasters have closed in recent years and some are now available online instead. The stations we list on our website are proper radio stations, i.e. stations which can be heard on a normal radio - our definition of a radio station is a station which actually uses radio waves to transmit its programming, and which can be heard...on a normal radio.

Infographic of the Day: The Web's Top Brands Loooove Blue The good people over at COLOURlovers set out to investigate an interesting question: what are the most dominant colors online? They did their best to get scientific about it, studying the colors in the brands of the top 100 websites. And then they naturally made an infographic: [Click for full infographic] One of the first things that leaps out is that there are two sweet spots on the color spectrum: the highest number of brands cluster around the blue-indigo area, and another, somewhat smaller, group feels at home centered around red. In this, it would seem that the web's brands are similar to corporate brands in general, which Wired examined in a 2003 infographic of their own.

And in addition you have a neat local software called SciLor Grooveshark Downloader that allows you to download any mp3 found in the grooveshark. What I'm missing is the social media component. I'd prefer a much more integrated solution that is based on recommendations and kind of a genius or last.fm logic. Atm you can only follow friends but you are not notified about their changes on playlists etc. AFAIK and they can't recommend stuff to you yet. by ainbruk Sep 14

summer7811: Welcome to Pearltrees. I'm sorry I don't use Groveshark, so I can't help you with the photos. Maybe you can contact Grooveshark directly? by dee2 Sep 6

oops - got disconnected! so, www.ckua.org - that almost went off air a few years back due to funding issues. So yeah, we need to put the dollar behind our intentions sometimes. ; > by seannab Apr 8

Good idea! I think I'll do the same - we have a great "listener supported" fm/web radio station here (www.ckua by seannab Apr 8

La creme de la creme... That's All! I subscribed to keep the service active. It's worth It!!! by larchambault Apr 7

What a pitty, they cut out the marker, which marks the song's place which is currently playing by bloodmandarin Jan 22

Hopefully not too many people find out about this. I don't think it will survive juridical pressure. It's tooo great!! by bloodmandarin Nov 2

No limit on hours per month listened. Can play specific songs. Radio based on previous plays available. by rejacob Nov 1

@clearwaters - No, sorry, I was not clear. I meant that Pandora only works in the US, not in any other countries, so I can't really use it. by archaea Jul 12

Well, you can only listen to Pandora in the US so it doesn't work for me. Musicuo is very similar to grooveshark but streams faster. And stereomood is also pretty cool. by archaea Jul 4

Otherwise i agree, it is amazing, the quality is brillant et you can find almost everything. by calimer0 Jun 15

Well yes but spotify's 20 hours a month are enough for, in the best case, one week for me. by calimer0 Jun 15

will play just what you want not what pandora wants I like pandora but mog will play just what I like lets say Sounds From The Ground - by overstuckmedia Jun 13

that's what's great about pandora..you just put in what you like and it comes up with songs based off of that. you can't choose to play a specific song though. by cpdreyfuss Jun 13

But I really liked about lastfm, that it gave you recommendations based on all the music you seemed to like (as long as you heard it); grooveshark just compares the last song you heard to his database and do not consider ALL you gustos... ;) :( by bloodmandarin Jun 12
