Bruiser: A street sweeper's tales.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/33096/Bruiser-A-street-sweepers-tales Chronicles of Bruiser: When I burned out of college in spring of 2006, I found myself needing cash in the worst kind of way. I was flipping through the newspaper when I found an ad that read: "Sweeper Vac Driver needed. 3rd shift only" and gave subsequent contact info. I'm really great doing over night work and decided that I'd give it a shot. I arrive at the office, fill out an application, and b efore I walked out of the door I was given the job and told to report for training the following eve ning. So, I reported to the office the following evening... and had the weirdest/craziest/funniest 8 months of my life. I was hoping to share a story or two with you guys.
ScienceDaily (Aug. 4, 2009) — Professor Declan Murphy and colleagues Dr Michael Craig and Dr Marco Catani from the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London have found differences in the brain which may provide a biological explanation for psychopathy. The research investigated the brain biology of psychopaths with convictions that included attempted murder, manslaughter, multiple rape with strangulation and false imprisonment. Using a powerful imaging technique (DT-MRI) the researchers have highlighted biological differences in the brain which may underpin these types of behaviour and provide a more comprehensive understanding of criminal psychopathy. Dr Michael Craig said: 'If replicated by larger studies the significance of these findings cannot be underestimated.

Top 10 Deadliest Rampage Killers

by Josh Fox We’ve seen plenty of movies, books and documentaries on serial killers, but not so many on those who are so efficient and deadly that they can murder dozens of people in a single day. Murder sprees seem to have become more prominent over time – notably the tragedy in Norway, which is as recent as July 2011. This evil act will no doubt happen again thousands of times in the future. What I have presented in this list is no more than the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

My Father Was a Polygamist - Read More on ELLE

I’ve been in courtrooms before, during three trials of the polygamous radicals led by the infamous Ervil LeBaron who murdered my father, Rulon Allred. They saw him as an obstruction to LeBaron’s ambition of establishing himself as “the One Mighty and Strong,” who, according to early Mormon prophecy, will come to set God’s house in order. One of those trials took place in the same Salt Lake City federal courthouse where I now sit. LeBaron died 30 years ago in Utah’s state prison, but for the past two weeks, I’ve come to watch another tormentor, Brian David Mitchell, cross the courtroom in a gray cloud of piety.

Top 100 April Fool's Day Hoaxes of All Time As judged by notoriety, creativity, and number of people duped. Note from the Curator: I created the first version of this list in the late 1990s. Back then, there was hardly any information collected about April Fool's Day pranks, so I had to do a lot of research in newspaper archives to put this together. Luckily I was in grad school, so I had a lot of spare time on my hands ;-).

In November of 2009 I was informed that sections of this web page had been illegally reproduced without permission by artist Seth Price through Leopard Press. The author Fredric Rice (that is me) has put forth a great many hours and much effort creating this web page, and The Skeptic Tank has not authorized any commercial usage of the text offered below and does not assume liability or responsibility for content that is reproduced elsewhere. This information is offered in to the public domain however it is copyrighted by Fredric L. Rice who grants permission for some or all of the text to be used elsewhere for non-commercial purposes only , something I should probably have repeatedly underscored back in 1997 when the web page was first published.
