The adapter allows you to connect your 3-5.5 V logic circuits to a serial COM port, which operates on higher and negative voltages (EIA-232, similar to the older RS-232 standard). The adapter is available fully assembled with male header pins facing down for use with prototyping boards and breadboards. This adapter distinguishes itself from most competing units through its five drivers and three receivers, which give you access to all eight signal lines on a DB9 connector. This means that in addition to standard serial communication, your project can also use all of the handshaking lines and status lines.

The first nine pins on the deluxe serial adapter correspond to the same nine pins on a COM port DB9 connector. This week Logic Supply launched the BeagleBone Black Case, aka the LGX BB100, which houses the company's previously launched BeagleBone Black, an ultra-compact, low-power, ARM-based prototyping board for developers. This new enclosure costs a mere $14.95, and joins a family of BeagleBone Black accessories like a power adapter, microSD card, USB-based Wi-Fi adapter and more. Undoubtedly competing with the Raspberry Pi, the BeagleBone Black board sports a Sitara AM3359 SoC from Texas Instruments featuring a Cortex-A8 core clocked at 1 GHz and a POWERVR SGX Graphics Accelerator subsystem for 3D graphics acceleration. Backing up this chip is 512 MB of DDR3L RAM, 2 GB of eMMC flash storage, and a microSD card slot for additional storage. It comes preloaded with the Angstrom Linux and can run Ubuntu and Android. They utilize the drivers developed for the CircuitCo LCD4, but they provide a different form factor and pricing point to the LCD4. The 4DCAPE-70T LCD cape features a 7.0” TFT LCD 800x480 resolution display with Resistive Touch. The BeagleBone Black connects directly to the back of either of these capes and provides everything the required such as power and display signals.
