My mom and I would always stop by a little coffee shack on our road trips to Oregon. I remember ordering the blueberry Italian soda in the summer instead of ice cream because they were so refreshing. I hadn’t had one of these since I was a kid, so I wanted to recreate the easy recipe. I even made my own blueberry and strawberry syrup instead of using Torani.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle of making your own syrup, you can use a syrup from the store. Also, there aren’t any real measurements to these, it’s really your preference! Make-your-own-pizza party - hollywood housewife. When we have the whole extended family at the lake each July, we each take a night to provide dinner, because otherwise trying to coordinate dinner for 25 people every evening is too arduous. This year my sister-in-law did a make-your-own-pizza dinner and it was so genius that I blatantly stole the idea and had one of my own over the weekend. It's so easy, and great for groups. Here's how I did it: After rolling out a big 'ole sheet of butcher paper onto my kitchen island, I plunked all the ingredients right on top and wrote the instructions on the paper. We grilled the pizzas instead of baking them, saving tons of time and mess.

Guests were instructed to coat their naan with olive oil to avoid burning on the grill. Then, toppings! There was pizza sauce, obviously (I just used Ragu pizza sauce - shhhhhh, don't tell) and loads of cheese. Throw 'em on the grill for as long as it takes for the the ingredients to melt together in a yummy fashion (about six minutes, we found) and then eat! Lunch Sandwich Round-Up.

Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread. I’m sorry. I know it’s Monday morning and you probably came here for some pretty pictures of food that you could glance at, and then move on with your day… and here I go thrusting warm, soft cinnamon sugar bread in your face. It’s not fair. I know it’s not fair. I know that now you’re craving cinnamon rolls, and cream cheese frosting and chili fries and hot dogs. You don’t deserve this sort of torture. This bread hits all the comfort spots in my soul. I’m sorry and you’re welcome and I love you. Let’s start at the beginning. I did this all without the use of a stand mixer and dough hook. This dough can be made and left to rise , then refrigerated overnight for use in the morning. This is the dough just before it’s left to rise.

After the dough has rested and risen for an hour, I knead it in a few tablespoons of flour. This is the part in the bread process where you can wrap the dough and place it in the fridge to rest overnight. I worked with my dough right away. I can’t even deal. I once made the driest pancake in the world. I can see you sitting at home, staring at your computer screen, and scoffing at my bold statement.

Driest pancake in the world? Yeah, right. How would you even know? But this is the truth, my friends. I really did make the driest pancake in the world. Let me share my story with you. A few years back, I made chocolate chip pancakes. Quickly flash to the next morning. Still cold. Confusion. Was the microwave broken? I got angry, as one will when they want food and want it now. When I took it out, the pancake was slightly less cool. It took me a few hours to realize what had happened. It only stands to reason that my pancake was so utterly dry that there wasn't enough water in it to be absorbed by the microwaves. Thus, the world's driest pancake was born. And to think I took a bite... Luckily, this Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread is definitely not dry. One Year Ago: Chocolate Orange Miniature Cakes Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread Yields 1 loaf.

Chinese Tea Eggs. Eggs, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee soft-boiled with some kaya toast dipped into the runny yolk. And scrambled with some herbs and melty cheese. And simply cooked over-medium in melted butter. I love eggs any way, any time of the day. One of my earliest egg-lovin' memories is eating Chinese tea eggs (cha ye dan) as a kid. They are hard boiled eggs (with the shell cracked but still in tact) soaked in a mixture of black tea and spices.

Tea eggs are a common street snack and even sold in convenience stores in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. . - 6 eggs - 2 bags of black tea - 4 star anise - 1 cinnamon stick - 1/4 cup of soy sauce Place the eggs in a pot and fill with water until just covered. Place the eggs back into the pot of water and add the tea bags, spices and soy sauce. Alternatively, you can simmer the eggs for about 2-3 hours instead of soaking them overnight. Besides being a cute novelty item for a party, I think they would add a little drama to the end of a romantic meal. I've been looking for something different to serve for Valentine's dessert, and this is definitely different.

The strawberries are hollowed out and filled with a bit of liquor, then ignited with a match. For the cake portion, I chose a One Bowl Chocolate Cupcake recipe because 1. it's quick 2. it is easy, and 3. it fits my prerequisite for a light ending on date night. I should say, a light ending provided you don't eat too many. Which is really, really easy to do. The cakes are just sweet enough, and have a light, fluffy crumb - the perfect vehicle for rich chocolate buttercream. Notes for flaming strawberries:Any alcohol below 80 proof will not ignite well. Shaina made a margarita version of this on Babble Food. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin tin with cupcake papers and set aside.
