Konaka, and produced by Yasuyuki Ueda (credited as production 2nd) for Triangle Staff. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo from July to September 1998. A PlayStation game with the same title was released in November 1998 by Pioneer LDC. The anime series was licensed in North America by Geneon (formerly Pioneer Entertainment) on DVD, VHS, and LaserDisc. However, Geneon closed its USA division in December 2007 and the series went out-of-print as a result.[3] However, at Anime Expo 2010, North American distributor Funimation Entertainment announced that it has licensed the series and was re-released in 2012.[4] However, Funimation released few episodes on YouTube. The series is also noted for its music, a blend of western R&B/hip-hop music with J-pop vocals. This is evident in the opening song, "dis–", performed by bilingual Japanese-American singer Mika Arisaka. Is an anime series about 17-year-old Ayato Kamina, his ability to control a mecha known as the RahXephon, and his inner journey to find a place in the world. His life as a student and artist in Tokyo is suddenly interrupted by a mysterious stalker, strange planes invading the city and strange machines fighting back. The central elements of RahXephon's plot are music, time, archetypal mystery, intrigue and romance. The series shows influences from philosophy, Japanese folklore and Western literature, such as the work of James Churchward. The cultural background of the series is dominated by Mesoamerican and other Pre-Columbian civilizations. Setting[edit] The backstory of RahXephon is a fight against multi-dimensional invaders known as the Mulians (known as Mu (ムー, Mū?)).

Both manga and OVA have received mixed to negative reviews due to the poor plot and characters, however it was praised for its computer-generated animation. Plot[edit] Story[edit] The story sets in the distant future, when the Earth's oceans have risen and flooded most of the sea-lying land on Earth. The rogue scientist Zorndyke caused the flooding, which killed countless individuals, and most of humanity's remaining cities have been attacked or destroyed by Zorndyke's army of half-animal "hybrids".
