Sealander: Swimming Caravan
A hybrid mobile trailer, mini-home and motorboat, this ingenious portable space has gotten off the ground quickly (and literally). An integral waterproof chassis lets you roll the German-made Sealander right down into the water sans accessories; its bowl-shaped form makes it stable both overland on on the sea, suited for deep and shallow waterways alike. Inside, modular pieces can be customized based on the needs of the user – tables and benches are adjustable and removable, for starters, also flipping down and up into various positions for multiple functions. Meanwhile, while amenities and appliances are added and subtracted around them for cold food storage, warm food preparation, sleeping and so forth. A low-emission electric outboard motor makes it suitable for largely unlicensed uses in lakes and streams. Fold-down metal stairs make climbing on and off when it is dry-docked for use as a camper a simple matter as well. This incredible all-in-one furniture set from Matroshka is still looking for funding – so if you want to have one you might need to become an investor.

Hello there! It’s been a busy week with a trip to Seattle for the Picasso exhibition and a drive out to the coast but I knew I had to share this amazing remodel with you before the week came to a close. Everyone loves good makeovers and the ones involving tiny spaces, creative design and ingenious solutions are my all time favorites! Check out how Seattle artist, designer and welder, Michelle de la Vega , created this beautiful little 250 sq. ft. haven…If kids could design and build whole homes, what would they look like? This so-called Rainbow House is filled with secret doors, slides that bridge between floors and multi-colored spiral staircases to wind you back up. Chutes and ladders, anyone? Dubbed a “magical oasis’ by its creators ( AB Rogers and DA Studio , the busy and noisy road next to the building is matched by equally rambunctious and interactive interior decor.
