Live Model Books Pose Tool A Pose is usually a collection of photos of a model in one position. For example, a nude model standing in the contrapposto position or the T-pose will be photographed from 24 different angles (once every 15-degrees as the model is rotated). Those 24 art reference photos are collected into one "Pose." When the project first started, we imagined our customers as sculptors. They would be looking for anatomy reference photos and also traditional male and female nude artist's model photos but they would need to see all around the figure to create a complete sculpture. That's why we do the multiple angles.
The hand The hands are a notorious source of frustration. This section won't concentrate on the muscle structure, since the hand is very complex in this regard, and knowing this won't help much in drawing them. Instead, we'll look at proportions, range of motion, and possible simplifications. Structure and proportions Arkhip Kuindzhi Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi was a highly regarded Russian (Ukrainian) landscape painter and a member of the amazing group of Russian painters known as the Peredvizhniki (“Itinerants” or “Wanderers”, see my related posts). Kuindzhi was noted for his unorthodox compositions and daring experiments with lighting effects, perhaps partly stemming from his limited formal training. He grew up in a poor family, son of a Greek shoemaker, and lost his parents at an early age.

This is the project of artist Mark Wallinger and was originally planned as a towering 50m tall horse (as tall as the Statue of Liberty) to be erected in the countryside of Kent and visible from the Eurostar. But around the big crash, arts budgets downsized and so did the scale of the horse. Now it is only a very average ‘life-sized’, but it is still striking in its crisp white finish and realism. About a year ago I worked with the team from Sample & Hold to refine the digital version of the horse, based on a scan of Mark’s actual horse.

Portraits of the Homeless Photographed in a Studio Environment “Down and Out in the South” is a series of studio portraits by photographer Jan Banning that explore the issue of homelessness. The project started back in 2010 while Banning was working as an artist-in-residence. A board member of the art center suggested homelessness as a potential subject matter for Banning to explore. The photographer was initially hesitant, feeling like he “had little to contribute to existing images” due to the fact that “society’s outcasts have been photographed very often.” However, after thinking about it some more, Banning decided to tackle the project—albeit in an angle different from most photographers.

I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it’s imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today… Two years ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future..
