iFixit: The free repair manual

Massachusetts, The people of Massachusetts have always stood up for their right to repair. In 2012, voters passed a law that ensured residents' right to repair their car wherever they wanted. Now, it's time to do the same for electronics. With the Digital Right to Repair Bill, H.3383, we have a chance to guarantee our right to repair electronics — like smartphones, computers, and even farm equipment. We have a chance to help the environment and stand up for local repair jobs—the corner mom-and-pop repair shops that keep getting squeezed out by manufacturers. The Digital Right to Repair Bill requires manufacturers to provide owners and independent repair businesses with fair access to service information, security updates, and replacement parts. If you agree with us, find out who represents you in the Massachusetts legislature.

A simple—and beautiful—way to do this is through houseplants; they add some green to your home while being an effective way to purify the air. NASA hardly seems like the organization that would give us insight into these types of plants, but in the late 1980s, the US government agency collaborated with the Associated Contractors of America (ALCA) to come up with a list of the most beneficial flora for your home. 10 Search Engines to Explore the Invisible Web Not everything on the web will show up in a list of search results on Google or Bing; there are lots of places that their web crawlers cannot access. The travelling hacker box. It’s a project I’m putting together on hackaday.io to emulate a swap meet through the mail. The idea is simple – take a box of random electronics junk, and send it off to a random person on hackaday.io. This person will take a few items out of the box, replace those items with something sitting on their workbench, and send it off to the next person. This is repeated until the box is stolen.

Tin Cans into Functional Furnishings Tin cans are the subjects of many arts & crafts projects, frequently reused as the bodies of little tin robot soldiers or other kitschy knickknacks. This designer has taken the same classic object but added a useful and more minimalist twist – a set of simple plastic lids that make an old tin can able to serve a new function. From tea, coffee, sugar and other kitchen storage containers to soap dispensers and pen holders, these designs by Jack Bresnahan bring out the remarkable elegance of what one might previously consider a purely functional form. Not to wax too ecstatic about a simple cylinder, but somehow the silver shine and ribbed sides of the tin cans take on a new luster in the presence of these purposeful white tops.

Azalea Zeal - UF/IFAS Extension: Solutions for Your Life Introduction Spectacular flower masses and colors, plant form, and evergreen foliage are among the reasons for the popularity of azaleas. In Florida, azaleas bloom from late February to early April, depending on cultivar and seasonal variation. Many azalea cultivars grow well in north and central Florida, but fewer are recommended for south Florida. Azaleas can enhance the home landscape in many ways. They are used in foundation plantings, in mass borders, or as specimen plants.

Using Github as a Knowledge Base — TeamSnap Developer Portal The Search for a Knowledge Base Google reports 109,000,000 results for the search query "Knowledge Base". 65,300,000 are returned for "Knowledge Base Software". As a software developer, that ratio strikes me as about right - developers love re-inventing the wheel and I enjoy tongue in cheek intros for blog posts. ;-) Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool This new tool allows an easy and comfortable way to download genuine Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, as well as Office 2007, 2010 and 2011 disk images (ISO) directly from Microsoft's servers.
