To look at my grades in school you’d never make me out to be a history fan. In school I never really understood what importance those “old time stories” had to do with the amazing places my life was going to go until it got there. Somewhere along the way I got curious. Seeing a billboard on the side of the road announcing that Fred’s Widget Store had been in business “since 1920” got me wondering. At first I thought about the invention of the widget, which I honestly thought was a more modern creation, then I started thinking that maybe there wasn’t a half bad living to be had in the widget business. Beats worrying about cleaning people’s mattress all day like I do today.

He has been criticized for being a misanthrope, a subvert, a cynic and a pessimist, but I think these assessments are off the mark. I believe he only wanted human beings to be more honest with themselves. He did have a remarkable gift for aphorism — he once declared, “It is my ambition to say in ten sentences what others say in a whole book.” A hundred years after his death, Nietzsche retains his disturbing talent for turning a person’s worldview upside-down with one jarring remark. Even today his words remain controversial.
SCHOPENHAUER'S 38 STRATAGEMS, OR 38 WAYS TO WIN AN ARGUMENTArthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860), was a brilliant German philosopher. The more general your opponent's statement becomes, the more objections you can find against it. The more restricted and narrow his or her propositions remain, the easier they are to defend by him or her. Use different meanings of your opponent's words to refute his or her argument.thinking stylesThe following is edited and adapted from It is intended to supplement personal understanding and enhance critical self-examination of yourself as a communicator. Self TransformationSelf-creation is the highest art. David Zindell The stated goal of Transhumanists is to remove all removable limitations, mental, social, biological and physical from ourselves. Finding these limitations, learning about them and finding ways of removing them are an important problem. Many such limitations are based on our current bodies and minds, which are severely limited due to their biological origin (biological system have evolved to a high degree of adaptability in the environment of the Biosphere, but are very limited in environments not similar to it or for other purposes, like our current culture).
