Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies I procrastinate from my homework the best when I’m baking. Seriously. Instead of writing a 1000 word paper, I browse through my bookmarks on my computer and decide what I want to bake. After figuring out my next culinary mission, I get right to it and start mixing my little heart away. Once everything is set and cooled, I figure, “Well… I already have all my materials out, why not bake something else?” Were these cookies worth it? Salted butter caramels & Cooking Blog - Find the best recipes, cooking and food tips at Our Kitchen. - StumbleUpon 16th December 2010By EmmaPhotography by Emma I love the intangible feeling of Christmas – that big, warm, swelling feeling that rises up inside you. The closer we draw to Christmas (9 days and counting) the more palpable this feeling becomes. It’s in the shop windows, it’s in the Christmas trees – strung with lights that twinkle in darkened lounge windows and it’s in the Christmas carols that float on the sticky, humid summer air. I go out of my way to soak it all in. I have taken my place in the queue that forms in Franklin Rd; it inches slowly past houses curtained in Christmas lights, past front yards filled with gold and silver baubles, past Christmas stockings strung from porches and angels hanging from rooftops.

Caramel Brownie Cheesecake This is a monkeyhead concoction so please don’t be disappointed with me that it’s not 100% homemade. Sometimes as a mom you have to go with your childrens ideas in order to lift their creative wings. Monkey One loves cheesecake and caramel, Monkey Two has a passion for brownies you put the two of these knuckleheads together and look at what they come up with… Caramel Brownie Cheesecake. You gotta love the way these boys think. To see their vision come to fruition we used one of our favorite brownie mixes, a no bake white chocolate cheesecake recipe from Williams-Sonoma and we tried Jamie’s homemade caramel recipe from My Baking Addiction. My girl has it going on in the kitchen y’all, get ready to drool.

Getting rid of mini chocolate bars was never a problem around here; our best use for leftover candy has always been eating it. Although. Those wee bars are good for some things — deep fried mini Mars bars, for example. Sometimes it’s handy having chocolate bars in miniature.
