Paper Roses You know how it goes, a friend calls you and invites you to dinner at the last minute. OMG! What gift can you take?! You scrabble around the cupboards trying to find a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine but find that most of the chocolates have been eaten and the wine has gone. I thought this was a wonderful idea. 15 DIY crafts you need to make right now It's cold, it's raining and quite frankly, it's utterly miserable outside at the moment. So stay in! But then it hits you. It's not that great inside either. Starting to sew : What Katie Does I know my blog’s been quite sewing-heavy recently, and I had a couple of comments asking how I got started and if I had any tips on where to begin. It’s kind of a tricky one to answer because sewing has been in my periphery for quite a few years and I can’t really remember what inspired me to start and how I learned, but I’ll try to help! My sewing story The Most Expensive Property In Brooklyn, New York A stunning triplex penthouse apartment that overlooks the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbour has just been listed for $25 million USD, making it the most expensive property in Brooklyn (if it sells mind you). The penthouse sits atop one of the tallest buildings in Dumbo, the cobblestoned neighborhood that sprang to life in the 80s in a former industrial area between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Unsurprisingly, the apartment was commissioned by David Walentas, the creator of the Dumbo neighborhood (I hate this name!). The building was originally a cardboard box factory, a relic from New York’s industrial past. Walentas renamed the factory the ClockTower Building and converted it first into offices for the New York State Labor Department, and then into 124 condominiums in 1998. Lucky Wishing Stars Tutorial You’ve probably seen these little puffy origami stars before. They are really quick to make, and you don’t need any special materials to make them. You can buy lucky star pre-cut strips from origami stores, but you can just as easily make your own from medium weight coloured paper, e.g. scrapbooking paper, or even strips cut from magazine pages – as the strips are so narrow, the original text or image won’t be obvious in the finished star.

Unidentified Lifestyle by Maria Matiopoulou: things that made me smile this week This week was tough, tough in a way that the weekend felt like it would never arrive! But it did and I realized how important it is to spent some quiet time at home. I'm still in the (really slow) process of decorating our apartment and Christmas is just around the corner so I thought it was about time to go out and start writing down my Christmas lists. Handmade Holiday Decor eBook Happy Day After Thanksgiving! I don’t know about you, but despite the week I had last week, I am very grateful and thankful for modern medicine and trained surgeons who can take all the broken pieces and put them back together again. Humpty Dumpty never had it so good! My seven year old is thankful for something completely different. When asked yesterday morning what he was thankful for he said (very seriously), “My bottom.”
