Free AutoCAD Tutorials Introduction to AutoCAD 2010 Welcome to the world of CAD - In this first tutorial you will be learning the very basics of CAD. This course is designed so that the commands and instructions should work on almost any version of AutoCAD, although this version is designed specifically for AutoCAD 2010 and will work great for 2012. By the end of this level you will have the skills to develop basic 2D drawings and print them out to scale. For an introduction to what CAD is all about, check out my Blog post. Let's start at the beginning, these things you need to know, or the rest of it won't make any sense at all. Everything that you draw in AutoCAD is exact. Here is how it works: AutoCAD uses points to determine where an object is located. A line has two points, a start point and an end point. Most of the time you will not have an indication of where the origin is. To review: ABSOLUTE POINTS are exact points on the drawing space. AutoCAD measures angles in a particular way also. 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.)

CSA - AutoCAD Tutorial This tutorial (in HTML form) for AutoCAD beginners was developed by Professor Nancy Wilkie of Carleton College and Harrison Eiteljorg, II, Director of the Center for the Study of Architecture. It is copyrighted by them but may be freely downloaded, used, and distributed with the following conditions: 1) this heading must remain with the document 2) no charge of any kind may be made for distribution or usage by others 3) no changes in the document may be made by anyone in the chain of distribution. Note also that this page has not been re-designed in keeping with the August, 2010, re-design of the CSA site in general. That is the case because this document is thought to be best presented in the form you see here, with a maximum of user flexibility and a minimum of distractions. This document is available as a web page, because we could include formatting in an HTML document but not in a simple ASCII file for downloading. The tutorial was updated in May of 2001 by Mr. Sessions Session One:

The Mad Cadder AutoCAD Let me paint a picture.....You receive a folder structure from another company or IT has moved the folder location on a server that contains thousands of DWG files and their associated Xrefs. The problem is that the path is incorrect for most of these Xrefs which means that when you open the host drawing the Xref will be "Not Found". Let me paint the picture a little clearer with an example........The company standard is to save all projects in the following folder location on the server - S:\Engineering\Plans. The new server is put into place and the IT department decides to change the folder structure. You are now expected to save all projects to - Z:\Eng\Master\Plans. This can be fixed in two ways, that hard way or the easy way. Instead of opening each host file and repathing the folder locations manually in Autocad, you can use the Reference Manager (it's been around since AutoCAD 2004), NO PROGRAMMING KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED! Step 7: On the top choose Find and Replace.
