Perfect Summer Bangle

Perfect Summer Bangle
Here's a fun tutorial on how to make a message bangle that's one-of-a-kind, done in the sun, waterproof and weatherproof. Even after several trips to the beach, it won't fade or wash off! Essentially, it's the Perfect Summer Bangle. Used in this tutorial: Inkodye Red Prepare. All you'll need for this project is a raw wooden bangle (we got ours from DIYBangles.com), a black paint marker, plastic wrap, and some Inkodye! Transcribe. Perfect. Pour. Brush. Wipe. Wrap. Tape. Expose. Develop. Cut. Reveal. Wash. Enjoy.

Paper Flower Tutorials & Templates Here’s a lovely assortment of paper flowers to make, I’ve organized them in a few sections for easier browsing: Bouquets & Centerpieces, Tissue Paper, Crepe, Origami and the rest under general tutorials. Many of these have free templates to download and most are surprisingly easy to make! I’ve also compiled a vintage booklet into a pdf tutorial that you can download. It shows step-by-step how to make crepe flowers (includes images).

Tutorials for Recycling T-Shirts So way way back, in June, I wrote this Studio Organization post, about starting the process of organizing my studio by cleaning out the closet full of junk. Well, it's September and...let's just say the closet is a work in progress. Some of the things that are taking up space in the closet are shirts that I never wear anymore. I realized I could repurpose them into something else! Here are some tutorials for recycling shirts: Check out these t-shirt scarves!

A Little Bite of Everything UPDATE: I’ve added the stencil to DIY your own Moroccan rug in this other post. I love the dark wood floors we have in our home. The problem is that, since they are so dark, they show every little bit of dust, especially in the living room, which gets a lot of traffic. So I started looking for a rug but they were all so expensive, and didn’t really convince me. After months of looking I found one at Ikea, the Erslev, which I liked both for the price and the color, but it was too… simple. Too solid.

25 Cool and Creative MacBook Stickers As much as I hate Apple and their often overpriced hardware, I do admit that their products look beautiful and can be used just like jewelry to make you look better. Heck, one of my friends even put an Apple logo sticker on her Dell laptop! *insert a facepalm image here* However, with more and more people getting Macs these days it’s getting harder to stand out of the crowd. That’s why we collected 25 Cool and Creative MacBook Stickers to make it truly unique. If you find these stickers really cool but don’t have a MacBook yet, be sure to get one here before continuing. Curb Chain Ring While browsing important web sites the other day, I stumbled upon some pictures of Gwen Stefani and fell in love with a curb chain ring she had on. Long story short I decided to make my own version and recycle some broken rings while at it. Inspiration My DIY version

Shabby Flower Pillow Sometimes, ideas in my head don’t always turn out as planned. And sometimes, they turn out better…. After running across Sweet Jessie’s Scalloped Garland tutorial a few months ago, I wanted to take the same technique and use it to make a shabby, fun, linen pillow. Here’s how I did it: Holder for Charging Cell Phone (made from lotion bottle) My husband and I both have cell phones. And both of us have phone chargers. And that means lots of obnoxious cords. You never know when one of us may be moving phone cords around, to give our phones an extra charge while we’re chatting away……… or trying to charge our phones up before running errands or something.

Make coasters from curling ribbon Years ago when I was a college student, I had a part time job in a card store. One day on the job, I was fiddling with the curling ribbon we used for balloons. As I twisted and curled it in my fingers, I found myself rolling it into a tight spiral. As it grew and I added more colors, I soon realized I had a really cool design forming, and without too much effort I would have a spiral of color large enough to use as a coaster. I bought some rolls of ribbon and that weekend I sat down and made several fun coasters by carefully coiling the ribbon around itself. Ever since then, whenever I get balloons or gifts that are tied with curling ribbon, I save the ribbon in a special box in my craft room.

Seths Blog We still teach a lot of myths in the intro to economics course, myths that spill over to conventional wisdom. Human beings make rational decisions in our considered long-term best interest. Actually, behavioral economics shows us that people almost never do this. Our decision-making systems are unpredictable, buggy and often wrong. Christine Chitnis: Pretty Pots This might be my favorite craft so far, and I got the idea after seeing one too many beautifully patterned pots that were just out of my price range! Nothing a little Mod Podge and pretty fabric can’t fix! The total cost of this project was about $3 a pot. Materials:Terracotta potsMod PodgeBrushFabric This works better in description form, rather than step-by-step: Start by cutting a length of fabric that will wrap once around your pot.

Rolled Paper Roses Welcome to flower week – five days of simple and delightful flower projects. I could probably do three weeks of flowers because there are so many different ways to create them, but I’ve limited it to five of my current favorites. Before we get started, let me make a few disclaimers: stencil with freezer paper (harry potter tee) Yes, I am a nerd. I came up with a brilliant idea for a Harry Potter t-shirt and I couldn't resist. "Expecto Patronum!" However, you can make whatever kind of design you want with a freezer paper stencil. It doesn't have to be Harry Potter related. (Although it would be awesome if it was.)

137 inexpensive, handmade holiday gift ideas, Part 1 - Craftynest Why Christmas when we’re in the throes of summer? I know. I worked six years in retail. In my experience, nothing incited people’s groans more than Christmas being stocked on the shelves in August. However, I think this a worthy exception.
