Can you believe Halloween is just days away?

So cheap it’s scary

The days are going by SO FAST! I’m so excited for Monday though – November 1st is the first day I really allow myself to start thinking about Christmas. And I have a fun holiday event I’ll be announcing on Monday that you won’t want to miss! ;) So anyway, we’ve had Halloween all over the place for a while now, but I’ve let the Bub kind of take over. I’m so proud!! I’ve had the buffet in the foyer decked out for weeks now, but today the Bub and I finished it up with a little somethin’ somethin’ on the walls. When we started working on that spot, our bright, fun lamp (consignment find) wasn’t looking so spooky. :) I wanted to Halloween-it-up a bit without having to do anything permanent. We found some super cute downloads from the Silhouette site and used them to dress up the lamp shade a bit: ACK! I just gave them a very light coat of spray adhesive and stuck them on the inside of the lampshade: I love them so much!

We love our spooky foyer! This isn’t the first time I’ve made luminaries for Halloween.

Halloween Painted Jar Luminaries

Several years ago I made these painted Ghost Luminaries which are posted on FamilyCorner, these decoupaged Pumpkin Luminaries and this Candy Corn luminary which are both posted on Disney’s Kaboose. Today I made some colorful luminaries inspired by the ones I saw on this cute blog called Not So Idle Hands. While Emily uses the decoupage method with strips of tissue paper, I opted for what I believe to be an easier, faster and less expensive method… paint.

Aside from the new luminaries I made (which I describe below), I also spruced up my others after unpacking my Halloween boxes. You see, hubby had the heat up so high today, and sometimes I swear I’m experiencing early menopause, that I just had to get out of the house. To spruce up the Pumpkin Luminaries, which are decoupaged orange material, I used a damp rag to wipe them down, then I painted the yellow facial features black. I painted the jar rims with black paint. 46443439876781485_TTBC3tOP_c.jpg (Image JPEG, 420x420 pixels)
