Do Buddhists believe in a god?
No, we do not. There are several reasons for this. The Buddha, like modern sociologists and psychologists, believed that religious ideas and especially the god idea have their origins in fear. The Buddha says: Gripped by fear people go to sacred mountains, sacred groves, sacred trees and shrines. Primitive humans found selves in a dangerous and hostile world, the fear of wild animals, of not being able to find enough food, of injury or disease, and of natural phenomena like thunder, lightning and volcanoes were constantly with them. The second reason the Buddha did not believe in a god is because there does not seem to be any evidence to support this idea. World Prayers - Prayer Archive "prayers from all traditions".

Buddhism is a religion to about 300 million people around the world. The word comes from 'budhi', 'to awaken'. It has its origins about 2,500 years ago when Siddhartha Gotama, known as the Buddha, was himself awakened (enlightened) at the age of 35. • Is Buddhism a Religion? Om Mani Padme Hum: The Meaning of the Mantra in Tibetan Buddhism. Glimpsing a Few More Facets of the Mantra There are many ways to understand the meaning of the mantra.
Om mani padme hum. Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ (Sanskrit: ओं मणिपद्मे हूं, IPA: [õːː məɳipəd̪meː ɦũː]) is the six-syllabled Sanskrit mantra particularly associated with the four-armed Shadakshari form of Avalokiteshvara (Tibetan སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་(Chenrezig), Chinese 觀音(Guanyin), Japanese 観音(かんのん, Kannon), the bodhisattva of compassion.
Mani means "jewel" or "bead" and Padma means "the lotus flower", the Buddhist sacred flower. It is commonly carved onto rocks or written on paper which is inserted into prayer wheels. When an individual spins the wheel, it is said that the effect is the same as reciting the mantra as many times as it is duplicated within the wheel. Transliterations In English the mantra is variously transliterated, depending on the schools of Buddhism as well as individual teachers. Digital Prayer Wheels. Technical Details Download Mantra.

As it consolidated power in north China during the fifth century, this non-Han dynasty found it beneficial to associate themselves with the burgeoning popularity of Buddhism. Despite this, the Northern Wei emperor Taiwu (r. 424-452) was persuaded by Daoist and Confucian officials at court to curb the Buddhist church. This persecution of Buddhism, begun in 446, lasted until his death in 452. Taiwu's grandson, Wencheng (r. 452-465) succeeded him and reinstated Buddhism to its previous, eminent position. The Thirteen Mindfulness Trainings. The Thirteen Mindfulness Trainings form the moral guidelines to develop harmony in any simple community.
One of the essential elements of the Mindfulness Trainings is that they are directly applied in our daily lives. Every moment of our lives gives us the chance to put them into practice. The idea is to recite the Mindfulness Trainings regularly so that we can review our behaviour and observe where we have not lived up to our aspirations. It is important that we observe rather than judge ourselves, so that gradually, without resistance, our lives become imbued with the qualities they represent.

Buddhism. Buddhism /ˈbudɪzəm/ is a religion and dharma that encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on teachings attributed to the Buddha. Buddhism originated in India, from where it spread through much of Asia, whereafter it declined in India during the middle ages. Two major extant branches of Buddhism are generally recognized by scholars: Theravada (Pali: "The School of the Elders") and Mahayana (Sanskrit: "The Great Vehicle"). Mahayana, which includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Shingon and Tiantai (Tendai), is found throughout East Asia. Rather than Nirvana, Mahayana instead aspires to Buddhahood via the bodhisattva path, a state wherein one remains in the cycle of rebirth to help other beings reach awakening. Vajrayana, a body of teachings attributed to Indian siddhas, may be viewed as a third branch or merely a part of Mahayana.
This is quite true, andthis diversity in belief is a large part of what I was earlier reffering to.We as a species are allys growing, allways evolving,to what as yet,I haven't a clue I think,IMHO that to any one seeking out the things that are beyond the physical realm, the mindfuness meditation comes to them in one form,or another.I don't know what your experience has been in spiritual matters, but it has been my experience that if you want ''Spiritual'' experiences, they happen to you sometimes in some profound ways. And you're welcome – ixgagbalamvucub
