The collections include visual and textual sources and documents on the art history of Turkey post 1950, the development of architecture and design in Turkey since the beginning of the 20th century, and the transformations in society and the region from the last century of the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic up until the 1990s.

These are all accessible from saltresearch.org. Publications, including books and periodicals, are available for research at SALT Research. Droid

Developed by its Digital Preservation Department as part of its broader digital preservation activities, DROID is designed to meet the fundamental requirement of any digital repository to be able to identify the precise format of all stored digital objects, and to link that identification to a central registry of technical information about that format and its dependencies. DROID uses internal signatures to identify and report the specific file format versions of digital files.

These signatures are stored in an XML signature file, generated from information recorded in the PRONOM technical registry. New and updated signatures are regularly added to PRONOM, and DROID can be configured to automatically download updated signature files. The DROID binary zip file is available to download from the dedicated page on The National Archives website. Issue N°1. Memoriav.

When One Wants to Start an Archives… Portail International Archivistique Francophone. Ce site se veut un carrefour de formation et d'échanges au service de tous les archivistes de la Francophonie.

Portail International Archivistique Francophone

Ghosts of War Project by Jo Hedwig Teeuwisse

The idea behind this project is to combine the images of the past and present. The results are very touching and feel like you are traveling back in time. Teeuwisse is a dutch historian that spends hours looking for the locations and taking pictures that match the originals. Once she has the two images, he then uses Adobe Photoshop to combine them together. “I try to make people realise that history is all around us. To stay updated to this project, feel free to like Jo’s Facebook Page or follow him on Flickr. “Cherbourg, avenue de Paris, ancient Poste de Police, jardin Public.” “Rue Dom Pedro, civilians and American soldiers tear down the sign indicating the headquarters of the Todt organization in Cherbourg.”

Learn More | Visit the Site. Activist Archivists  We are proud to announce that the WHY ARCHIVE? Card has gone live. This project was begun with the help of the Internet Archive’s Rick Prelinger, who also wrote the initial text. Designed and edited by the Activist Archivists and members of the OWS Archive working group, the card spells out the importance of groups taking responsibility for the record of their activity in simple terms.

Enlisting the help of communities in the process of saving their own history is vitally important, and it is hoped that this can act as an aid to making that case. These are meant to be general guidelines, and we urge prospective users to edit the content as they see fit in order to be of best use for their particular situation.
