But are schools being as open and inclusive as they can be? Unfortunately not, says Bryan, whose book, From The Dress Up Corner to the Senior Prom, explores the topic of gender and sexuality in preK-12 school communities. Historically, schools have been heteronormative institutions, she says, from their curriculum to their programs to their athletics, thereby reinforcing traditional ideas about gender and sexual orientation. Feminist Frequency. Content Warning: This educational episode contains graphic sexual and violent game footage.

Feminist Frequency

In this episode we explore the Women as Background Decoration trope which is the subset of largely insignificant non-playable female characters whose sexuality or victimhood is exploited as a way to infuse edgy, gritty or racy flavoring into game worlds. Word Origins. Overview: I designed a game called Origins that exposes the history and prejudice of many words or expressions commonly used in the United States.

Word Origins

It started out as a short quiz and has grown to 30 terms. Because some of the terms are so commonly used, we either have forgotten their origins or debate their etymology.
