Felt Flower Winter Wreath. I have been wanting to make a wreath in all white and ecru felt for some time now, but when we got in our fun, new neon threads I knew I had to bring the two worlds together to create a wintery white wreath with playful bursts of color that would bring a smile to my face all winter long.

Pattern Sew Background Using the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine and the off-white thread, sew together two pieces at a time of the 5mm thick felt to create a four piece grid. I have a fun little tutorial for you. Remember my felt rosette tutorial from a while back? The one where I said to cut a spiral in the felt and roll it up like a sleeping bag? Well, this flower is basically the same… Materials: FeltScissorsGlue gun Cut a decent sized square of felt. Cut a spiral with a scalloped edge.

She came to stay with me recently and she brought the brooch with her because she loves to wear it, a lot. She told me that people often stop her in the street and comment on it (my mum is well known for exaggerating) but while she was here and we were out together, guess what? So many people stopped her in the street to ask about her brooch! With great glee and pride she would tell them that I had made it. I have posted tutorials here and here. Here is another style of felt flower to add to your felt flower repertoire. I have so many felt flowers kicking around and don't always end up using them for anything ~ the fun is in the making of them. At least for me anyway. How To: Butterfly Brooches

Lovely for springtime, or as a sweet gift all year round! You will need: - two pairs of buttons, one pair slightly larger than the other - some colourful felt. Any felt will do for the decorative detail but thicker/stiffer felt is better for the main butterfly shape - eg acrylic felt available from most craft shops or thick wool felt. I've used acrylic felt for mine. If you're worried about your felt not being sturdy enough, just add an extra layer between the front and back piece. - matching sewing thread - a brooch back or safety pin First cut out your pattern pieces - if you print the pattern sheet (see end of this post) at 100% your brooches will be the same as mine, approx 6cms across, just print it larger to get larger butterflies and to be able to use bigger buttons.
