Windsurfing Travel Features - Ibiraquera, Brazil

He loves the place so much he organized a PWA wave event in 2007 here and so suddenly this Brazilian beach was put in the spotlight. Could it become the next Jeri? How to get there I flew (American Airlines and TAM) from LAX connecting a flight in Miami, Florida to my first destination in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. After spending a week in Cabo Frio in Rio de Janeiro, I flew to Florianopolis, Brazil. How the wind works The best time to visit for wind & waves is from July to November although you could stretch this to December. Water State The waves in Ibiraquera are swell driven rather than just from the local wind. For beginners to free riders there are several lagoons close by the beach with very flat water and lighter winds than on the sea.

Coronation trip - Windsurfing Western Australia. Posted 21/06/2009, 11:06 pm I went this year at the end February for five weeks and it was great, holidays had finished so most of the tourist were gone and it was just me and the locals and the odd tourist.

Coronation trip - Windsurfing Western Australia

The water and wind was excellent it blew every day(20-40knots) that i was there, i took one day of because the smallest sail i had was a 4.7 and the wind was way to strong even for that. Coronations was good but got quite busy at times, and unless you are a confident jumper it might prove somewhat of a challenge...if you don't jump yet you will be by the time you get back. I spent most of my time in Geraldton itself sailing St Georges beach and Sunset beach, these were excellent spots for the intermediate sailor.

St Georges for is flat water bump and jump, just watch out for the crayfish pots the ropes will pull you up pretty quick and Sunset for it beginner wave sailing. Jem Hall Technique - Upwind 360. Jem Hall Technique - Carve Tack

It really is such a useful move; Intermediates can use it as a way to keep upwind giving them ground to try gybes, Wavesailors use it absolutely heaps and its by far the best way of turning in gusty or light winds as you can then use the upwind advantage to try and get planing. If you are sailing short boards and not tacking then you might want to seriously reconsider your sailing goals. The key parts draw heavily upon the light wind version and therefore with a floaty board you can get in a lot of practice to assist you in achieving the carving tack.

Key Parts Entrance – Unhooking and carving the board upwind from a low position until almost at head to wind.Transition – The action of moving around the front of the mast and getting your feet and hands in position on the new side.Exit – Steering the board off the wind and getting ready to take on power on the new beam reachPractice Summary Fault Analysis.
