©Muskimagazin.com Slični tekstovi Aleksandar Vukajlović SolarDuct® | CA Building Products SolarDuct® is a modular rooftop solar air heating system based on the highly efficient, award winning SolarWall® Transpired Solar Collector. The system operates in the same manner as the standard SolarWall® collector, however the SolarDuct® system has been specifically developed for use on rooftop applications, where it may not be feasible or even suitable to utilise the traditional wall mounted system. As with the SolarWall® technology, the SolarDuct® system harnesses the suns energy to heat the ventilation air supply before it enters the main air handling plant. Depending upon available roof space, the SolarDuct® units can be specifically orientated for maximum system performance; they are not limited to the fixed orientation of the building. Features & Advantages Collector efficiencies of up to 80%Significant reductions in CO2 emissionsQuick and easy to install modular rooftop unitsCan be optimised to meet site / building conditionsSimple to integrate into existing air intake system

New Battery Design Could Help Solar and Wind Energy Power the Grid Researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University have designed a low-cost, long-life battery that could enable solar and wind energy to become major suppliers to the electrical grid. "For solar and wind power to be used in a significant way, we need a battery made of economical materials that are easy to scale and still efficient," said Yi Cui, a Stanford associate professor of materials science and engineering and a member of the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences, a SLAC/Stanford joint institute. "We believe our new battery may be the best yet designed to regulate the natural fluctuations of these alternative energies." Cui and colleagues report their research results, some of the earliest supported by the DOE's new Joint Center for Energy Storage Research battery hub, in the May issue of Energy & Environmental Science.

Solar powered air heaters - SPAH product range The SPAH units produce between 20 and 30 degrees more heat than the outside air temperature. These units are thermostatically controlled so will switch off when the desired temp is reached. GE's Net-zero energy house This news item is a little old, but I thought I'd post it anyway as its interesting to see GE promoting the idea of energy neutral buildings (though their vision is a long way from that of the Passivhaus folks, heavy on technology on low on insulation and design) - GE: Smart grid yields net-zero energy home. General Electric unveiled a project at its research labs that will let homeowners cut annual energy consumption to zero by 2015.These "net-zero energy homes" will combine on-site power generation through solar panels or wind turbines with energy-efficient appliances and on-site storage. Consumers will get detailed energy data and potentially control appliances with Home Energy Manager, a device that is expected to cost between $200 and $250, according to GE executives at a smart grid media day.GE is piloting the in-home products this year and expects to have the appliances and energy display available next year. Greentech Media has more - GE Unveils Net Zero Energy Home Strategy.

Doityourself.com While his DIY poker table project was successful, Dan’s understanding of the game itself was not. “I fold!” With a new family pet in the house, the space heater and houseplant found an uncommon alliance in turbulent times. The power of imagination can be amazing… unless you forget to imagine some proper insulation and a fireplace. Because wearing red leather racing gloves while mowing the lawn is tragically underrated. Make Fuel at Home With Portable DIY Refinery | Autopia People were making ethanol at home long before there were cars. They called it moonshine. With gas prices going through the roof and everyone worried about global warming, a California company is betting people will jump at the chance to use the same technology to turn sugar into fuel for less than a buck a gallon. E-Fuel Corporation has unveiled its EFuel 100 MicroFueler, a device about the size of a stacking washer-dryer that uses sugar, yeast and water to make 100 percent ethanol at the push of a button. "You just open it like a washing machine and dump in your sugar, close the door and push one button," company founder Tom Quinn told us. "A few days later, you’ve got ethanol." Is it really that easy? According to Quinn, it is. "It’s so simple, anyone can make their own fuel," Quinn says. "Just as the PC brought desktop computing to the home, E-Fuel will bring the filling station to the home," he says. Maybe. “There’s a lot of hurdles you have to overcome.

Search by Murdoc2112 on November 30, 2013 27 Comments Solar Collector: Without the Expensive Sun Tracker About 5 years ago and inventor figured out how to build a solar concentrator that doesn’t need to follow the sun or need to be adjusted. Works in summer and winter, You A Line East to West and it dose the rest. In fig 2 it shows the suns rays hitting the Reflector from morning to midDay from angles of 10° to 60° and where the focus will be at those angels. Balance-of-System Equipment Required for Renewable Energy Systems Whether you decide to connect your home renewable energy system to the electric grid or not, you will need to invest in some additional equipment (called "balance-of-system") to condition the electricity, safely transmit the electricity to the load that will use it, and/or store the electricity for future use. With stand-alone systems -- those not connected to the electric grid -- the amount of equipment you will need to buy depends on what you want your system to do. In the simplest systems, the current generated by your system is connected directly to the equipment that it is powering (load). However, if you want to store power for use when your system isn't producing electricity, you will need to purchase batteries and a charge controller. Depending on your needs, balance-of-system equipment for a stand-alone system could account for half of your total system costs.
