The Silly Pearl {Handmade}: Craft Room Tour

We moved to this home at the end of last summer, and my craft room is one of our three bedrooms. Actually, it is just a corner of it, consisting mainly of these two desks and anything I can stuff below or above them, plus little closet. As you walk in, look to the right (and a little bit behind the door). I’ve repurposed some vintage finds for storage. These painted spice racks now hold my paints. On the shelf above my first desk are some train cases and my vintage yellow sewing boxes that hold thread, trims, and other sewing and crafting supplies, next to these white IKEA boxes for fabrics. 12 Amazing Craft Room Organization Ideas.

12 Amazing Craft Room Organization Ideas. A Place to Create. A Place to Create. For the day when I have an office again. Locally grown. How We Organize Our Workspace. It was so fun getting to share our new studio space that we posted a couple weeks ago, and a lot of you expressed interest in seeing more details and hearing about how we keep things looking so clean and organized.

How We Organize Our Workspace

I’ll admit that it’s a constant challenge — some days we might get huge deliveries of photo shoot props and wardrobe items that need to be sorted; on other days, the kitchen looks like a tornado blew through after rounds of recipe and cocktail testing. But, I’m a firm believer that a well-ordered space translates to a creative and well-ordered mind, so as a team, we stick to a few practices that keep our workspace organized amidst occasional chaos.

And when Claire and I sat down and began putting together our plans for the space, the organizational aspects were key. Keep reading for the details (shot by Jessica Pages), and a few tips on bringing a sense of calm into your own workspace! What Goes In

What Comes Out. Room to Grow. A Reader’s House. Beautiful dark hardwoods, a black front door and a lantern great you.

A Reader’s House

Against one wall is an old vintage print of Houston that Toni bought from Hong @ Hien Lam! This print was left in the warehouse when the Lams bought it – there were originally two of them. Now, why didn’t I ever notice the print??? Toni says she’s wanted it for 3 years and finally got the nerve to ask Hong about it. I love the beige rug against the hardwoods and the collection of stools. Новая порция домашней красоты от Car Moebel. Обожаю товары немецкой Car Moebel в первую очередь за умение преподнести себя!

My Scraproom - ScrapInspired.com

Well today is the day! You may remember that in the spring of 2010 we moved to a new home. In my old house I had set up some scrap space in the basement. I made it very bright and cheery but still…it was next to my washing machine in the basement. I had painted the concrete floor blue. UNTIL I got my new scrap space set up. In the new house I took over the spare bedroom. As you step in the door, which is just off the right side of this picture, the desk is what you come to first. Continuing around the room you get to my scrap corner. Continuing on to the left of my desk I have my sewing machine. And then there is the best wall in the whole room. Ok so back to the color organization. 52 Mantels: Combined Craft Room & Guest Room. I know I've given you many teasers about the details of my craft room slash guest room in the past several weeks.

52 Mantels: Combined Craft Room & Guest Room

And, you've been very patient with me. SO, today you get the full scoop! Truth is, my first tease was over a YEAR ago with my craft room hoop art. What?? I am so slow, I know! Since that time, I've moved furniture in and out and acquired a new sewing cabinet. This room is kinda small and has to serve double duty. To maximize the space, I pushed it ALMOST to the wall. Let's face it, craft rooms can be kinda...messy. Lots of chalkboard labels were used (including my DIY contact paper labels from last week). The white armoire is actually a sewing cabinet from my grandma. The black and white curtains are from ikea, as are the two b/w throw pillows. The green duvet was from Ballard Designs (about 5 year ago, alas). The antique coverlet was purchased at a flea market. The pink, embroidered pillowcases were handmade by a Sudanese friend when I lived in Africa. My Scraproom. I keep saying I'll blog about my scraproom soon but never seem to get around to it.
