Make: Online | Amazing Banksy painting costume

MAKE contributing illustrator Tim Lillis sent me pics of his friend George Schnakenberg ‘s Banksy painting costume, and I’m totally having costume envy over here. Hands down my favorite getup from this Halloween. Here’s a comparison pic of George’s costume versus the original Banksy “Flower Thrower” painting: http://blog.makezine.com/2010/11/03/amazing-banksy-painting-costume/

DHC/ART

"Alien, Prometheus and the Art of H.R. Giger" by RedBubble

H.R. Giger’s Alien Monster IV Alien, Prometheus and the Art of H.R. Giger by Evan Chapman Childhood fears take many different forms; thunderstorms, bogeymen, or the two impossibly huge dogs next door that were always perilously close to knocking the blasted fence down: Make it stop!!! …Ahem. http://www.redbubble.com/people/redbubble/journal/8953846-alien-prometheus-and-the-art-of-h-r-giger
http://blogs.artinfo.com/artintheair/2012/06/25/see-van-goghs-starry-night-recreated-with-7000-dominoes/ June 25, 2012, 8:15 am It took Vincent van Gogh untold hours to create what may be his best-known work, “The Starry Night” (1889), but it took noted YouTube domino whiz FlippyCat just 11 hours — not including her failed first attempt — to recreate the Post-Impressionist masterpiece using 7,000 dominoes. The resulting composition, despite a pair of misfiring dominoes, is striking in its evocation of van Gogh’s thick daubs of paint and the rich textures of the original, which is among the crown jewels of MoMA ’s permanent collection. FlippyCat doesn’t specialize exclusively in modern art, though. Back in 2007 she created a 4,519-domino replica of Leonardo ’s “Mona Lisa.”

Paper Art - 100 Extraordinary Examples of Paper Art

Paper art can be traced back to Japan, where it originated over a thousand years ago. From complex paper cutting to book carving, this is an ever expanding area of design that is hardly talked about. http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/05/100-extraordinary-examples-of-paper-art/

Slender, freckled, auburn-haired Alexa Meade is in her parents' basement in Chevy Chase. It's 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. She resists the temptation to Google herself. Instead, she sets an empty Grand Marnier jug between a mirror and an inclined plate of glass, traces the bottle and its reflection on the glass with black paint, then traces the reflection of the paint itself. Next, she sprinkles her expired thyroid medication into a can of Betty Crocker frosting, stirs it and scoops the mix into the pill bottle.
