View all I have used applesauce in place of the fat in brownies and quick breads with success. I haven't tried it in cookies but I would think it would work if the recipe calls for oil and not butter or shortening.

When I was growing up, my favorite thing about Easter (other than the Cadbury eggs) was dying Easter eggs with my family. Every year, like so many other families, we used those fizzy tablets to make intensely bright eggs.

Having previously used them in cheesecakes , brownies , and blondies , I ruled those out in favor of something different. After a good bit of consideration, I decided to go with this cookie recipe from the source of those peanut butter cups, King Arthur Flour .

The jalapeños made me do it. This past New Years Eve we were celebrating at my friend Mandy’s house, doing those things that people do on that auspicious night. +The Church Cook

This Mixed Berry Cobbler is so simple that in our church kitchen, we can make 6 full-size pans for 300 people in less than 2 hours, start to finish. Whenever we have access fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, we freeze them to add to this cobbler, which adds just the right amount of sweet and tartness. Combination of frozen mixed berries tossed with sugar, cornstarch or tapioca, and a splash of fresh lemon juice make the yummiest filling.
Here's a recipe for muffins that are just good food, and a quick breakfast on the way to school in the car, or a great snack when you get home from running errands or the kids when they get in from school. This recipe can be mixed up and used for a huge batch to bake all at once, (it makes four dozen!)

I was hoping to get a new recipe up here this week but several work deadlines haven’t left me with much free time. So with Easter coming up I thought it would be a good time to post a round up of my favorite Spring recipes. At the end I also included a few links to fun looking Spring/Easter recipes from some of my favorite food bloggers.
