Her project is carried out at the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) at the University of Cambridge. She is focusing on learning and socialization among diplomats. An important part of the project aims to understand the implications of establishing the EEAS in terms of democratic deficit and accountability in European Foreign Policy. Previously, Karolina had studied the roles and attitudes of officials in the Council Secretariat General of the European Union and the national diplomats in the Council of the European Union. Among her research interests are also topics such as: informal aspects of policy-making and negotiations, Polish foreign policy, the policy of the European Union towards its Eastern neighbours.

Putin condemns bloody regime change in Middle East MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a strong warning Wednesday against inciting violent regime change in the Middle East — an apparent rebuke to Western calls for an end to Syrian President Bashar Assad's rule. Putin said the international community should operate as a united front to soothe the tensions in the Mideast and claimed that a bloody regime change would only fuel further unrest. "Violence only begets violence," Putin said in a speech to foreign diplomats in Moscow. Tweets from Tahrir - Programmes A year on from the celebrations of February 2011, Egypt's revolution remains incomplete. For many of the youth activists who took part in the demonstrations which brought down Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president, there has been little or no progress. Elections have taken place but under the same military that has held power for 60 years. Mubarak and his supporters have been indicted but are yet to face substantive justice, whilst more than 10,000 civilians, including many of those who demonstrated against the dictator, have been tried and sentenced in mass trials before military courts.

The only surprise is there aren't more violent protests in the Middle East Eleven years after it began, Nato's occupation of Afghanistan is crumbling. The US decision to suspend joint Afghan-Nato operations in response to a wave of attacks by Afghan soldiers and police on Nato troops cuts the ground from beneath the centrepiece of western strategy. Nato is, after all, supposed to be training up Afghan troops to take control in time for the withdrawal of combat forces in 2014. Instead, those client regime troops are routinely turning their guns on a long-reviled foreign occupation force. No wonder support for a continued military presence is falling rapidly in the main British political parties – long after it has among the populations of all the occupying states. The US-British invasion of Afghanistan was of course launched in response to the 9/11 attacks: the poison fruit of US-led support for the Afghan mujahideen war against the Soviet Union.
