Happy Hippity Hop!

Happy Hippity Hop!
We're taking a long weekend off here for the Easter break (we're working on a new website with hopes of getting a bit more done with the extra day tucked in there). So we're bidding you farewell early with a few links and this cute little picture tutorial (see more below) sent to our e-mail from the folks at Present&Correct. Happy wishes for your Easter and Passover break. We're heading over here later to learn how to make some marshmallow peeps! Care to join us? High/low Easter party. West coast applications close Friday at Renegade. Loving this free (April calendar) desktop wallpaper from the Free People blog. And I saw lots of rabbits hopping around here. Have a fantastic weekend!

Matchbox Chocolate Advent Calendar Since Alex told me about his family following the german tradition of Advent calendars, I wanted to make one for him as a surprise; and that’s what I did! An Advent calendar is a calendar that begins on 1st December and ends on Christmas; it consists of 24 little doors or boxes numbered from 1 to 24. Beginning on the first day of December, one door is opened each day, counting down the days remaining until Christmas Eve; behind each door is a treat, a piece of chocolate or a toy. I decided to make one with boxes of matches and fill each box with candy, jelly sweets, christmas ornaments and little notes. YARN BRACELET DIY! See the updated version of this project here! This was one of my favorite crafts to make because it is really relaxing just like knitting and crocheting! This is just like making one of those paracord bracelets, except with yarn. I got some neato small yarn just for making these!

Circle Zip Earbud Pouch Tutorial - Dog Under My Desk I use a little zippered pouch to carry around my earbuds since they are the fancy microphone ones and I don’t want them to break or get tangled. Some of you have commented that you are looking for some small, simple gift ideas. This is definitely simple to make, and a little more fun than the typical rectangular zippered pouch! I can see these as the perfect gift for teenage cousins or nieces or girlfriends or even teacher gifts. Fun, quick, and cute! It doesn’t take very much fabric so you could even use scraps!

Recipe for Popcorn Chicken at Life I was walking through the grocery store last weekend and they had this huge freezer with a special on popcorn chicken. I was a little intrigued. It would be a very quick and easy dinner for during the week. Simple Cards "you and me blank greeting card" This card is simple and sweet. I found my inspiration for this card from Bookity on Etsy Three layers of paper, made from a strawberry, watermelon and red color are put together to make a heart. It wraps the words "you" and "me" together. This blank card is great for Valentine's day as well as other special occasions.

Paper Starburst Pendant Light So I had a different project that I was going to post today, an update version of my Book Pages Pendant Lantern from Project 19, but then I started working on this light idea, and I am so excited by the results I just couldn’t wait to show you guys! My inspiration and guide was this light from Design*Sponge, that I spotted on Pinterest. I really liked the idea, and I had a roll of white vellum lying around left over from college that I thought would look beautiful. Crocheted Doily Rug Two more things to cross off my crafty to-do list: 1. make a giant rug sized crochet doily 2. try crocheting with zpagetti, the recycled fabric remnant yarn made in, you guessed, it The Netherlands! You can crochet a giant doily and use it as a rug, or even as well, a giant doily! This one would look great on a round table, or just about anywhere really. I have to admit though, as much as I just love this rug doily, I really don't have a use for it, good thing this was a quick project made over two afternoons while the kids were playing on the living room floor! I wish I could tell you that this is just the greatest project and the greatest yarn, oh well— I love the rug, but I wouldn't recommend using a single strand of zpagetti for a rug with an open pattern like this one.

Chicken Cordon Bleu … My way I have to be honest, I did not cook this on our holiday. It was one of the many meals I cooked and photographer before coming on holiday, because let’s be honest, there is no way I’m going to stuff and roll chicken breasts for 10 people!! But this IS the perfect thing to wow your friends and family should you feel the need to impress anyone this Festive Season. I’ve loved Chicken Cordon Bleu since I was a little girl. I used to ALWAYS order it in restaurants just so I could say “bleuuuu” (pronounced Bluhhh). But I also loved how cutting into the crisp outer of the chicken resulted in a oozy, gooey, cheesy center, every time!

Mini Letters Now you can send your own super fun miniature mail with the World’s Smallest Post Service kit from Chronicle Books! The kit is based on the World’s Smallest Postal Service project by Lea Redmond, who offers a tiny transcription service through her roaming “post offices” in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pictured above is one of Lea Redmond’s World’s Smallest Postal Service letters (see Jordan Ferney’s earlier post on Redmond’s Valentine’s Day letters for more about the service). Toilet Paper Art « This Handmade Circus This is absolutely the most popular piece of artwork in our home, so I decided that this would be the perfect tutorial to start with! This is made from all recycled paper towel and toilet paper rolls, but everyone thinks it is made of iron. It is super light weight and you can change it to look anyway you would like and costs less than 1$! I found a picture of this on pinterest and LOVED it! There was no tutorial that I could find, so I figured I would just figure it out and it turned out to be super simple and really fun.
